I met some people who work at the Luigi's on Cherry Road near where Marco's is, and they said they were not related to the Luigi's at Steel Creek. Haven't tried them yet, but it would be hard to beat Marco's and Empire State's pizza in my opinion.

I tried Luigi's Pizzeria and Spaghetti House in Cherry Road last night. As posted previously, they're not affiliated with the Luigi's in Whitehall or at 49/160. I thought the pizza was very good - Close to / if not even with Empire. Chicken parm dinner was pretty good. $10.95 and it was enough to feed two. I wasn't crazy about the sauce. Tried to order Buffalo wings that were listed on the menu but was told they weren't available / revamping the menu. They're still working out the kinks, but I'd recommend giving them a try. I'll definitely use them as a change of pace from Empire.

A lot of people stated here they were looking for breakfast and I agree, breakfast seems to be a very important part here in the south. With shame I'll state I was a Yankee once, many years ago but I handed in my Yankee Membership Card about 19 years ago so don't hold it against me. What I miss and the only thing I miss that I think a lot of people would enjoy is a honest to goodness Diner. Open 24/7 serving all meals at any time of the day, shrimp scampi at 8am sure... eggs and grits at 9pm sure! I don't think a lot of them would survive like they do in NY/NJ but I think a couple placed in smart locations would, we just don't have the constant day/night traffic and life here as is common up in the north but I think there is enough people/traffic to handle 2 of them in the York/Lancaster area.
Lastly I was by 521 BBQ again last week. Great as always... make sure you pay them a visit soon. They are now closed on Monday's, I think it starts THIS monday. I was speaking to the cashier there, possibly one of the owners and she did state that traffic has been slow the past serveral months and I did not have to wait last week as I have in the past. I REALLY do want them to do well, they do make a good que. I have seen food establishments come and go just in the few years I have lived in the area. Some have a hard time since they STINK but others are good but still don't survive and I can't understand it! I am not saying that 521 will not survive but business has been slow so show your support if you like them as much as I do, I am sure it will be appreciated and it will insure that they have a reason to stay in business or we will just be lamenting as we have with other places about another one lost to the economy.
P.S. Slow Smoking in the Newport area of Rock Hill is open again. They are right in the front yard of the Wallmart under construction at 901 and 161. Th/Fri/Sat 11-2. They are some of the most friendly people you can ever meet and the food is good. I have not been there since they have opened again but their Buffet is good but check, at times depending on how much traffic they are seeing they may or may not put out the spread. That's a lot of food to put out if not enough people will be coming in to eat it. They have never closed but just held up on the lunches during slow times due to holidays and the wallmart construction. In the meantime they have been smoking/frying turkey's and doing catering on and off premises, I think last night they had a HUGE crowd there, the parking lot was full.

In Lancaster, there's a Japanese restaurant. I'm addicted to it. I almost like it better than Nakato's etc. It's more of a fast food type of japanese restaurant, but it's delicious. The name of it Japan (original, I know.)

Never...there is hope for Yankee's if they honestly see the light and give up the honking of the horn, the middle finger and dreams of concrete shoes!
NY/NJ or Miami ? All depends...
Manhattan vs. Downtown ?
Clifton/Paterson vs. Boca/Jupiter ?
Nothing can be so general, traffic in all of those places makes I-77 in Charlotte at rush hour look like a country drive. All I know is I am happy and will never look back. The only thing I miss is a real bagel and some of the pizza. Yes Luigi's in Charlotte and Empire come VERY close but it's still not exactly the same, good substitute and will do a find job of filling in till' I HAVE to visit the in laws every couple of years. And Durango is OK but nothing close to a NY bagel.

BBQ joint to open up soon where Sonny Mill's use to be in Fort Mill. Their sign says they offer catering, too. Will keep you update as more info. becomes available. Also new butcher shop opening up in Tega Cay (where the Super Walmart Center is on 160). Scheduled to open at the end of May.

Humm..I am headed over to the Golf Course (work) in a little bit, I am in Pineville now. Maybe I'll just go by there and see what I find..
Great on the butcher shop, a bit far for me all the way out in Sharon but I'll have to check them out also for special occasions.

Need to add the Fort Mill BBQ Company to here.
So I went last night, for take-out, the place was packed.
I got Brisket, Baked Beans & Smoked Corn
Wife had Pulled Pork, Onion Rings & Mac Cheese.
Needless to say I will be back, got the large portion of pork so I have the leftover for lunch today

Is that the place Sal and I have mentioned ? It was not open yet when I went by there, over where the Dutch Grill was.
