We stopped and picked up a menu at Luigi and Sons on Cherry Road... the one in the shopping center across from the corner of Anderson and Cherry.. not their location near Winthrop.
I saw Chicken (and veal) Francese (French) on the menu and had to go try it. It was excellent! My husband had white clam sauce on pasta. It was also quite good but it said baby clams on the menu and only had one with the rest probably minced from a can. Perhaps they were almost out of clams but my husband said it tasted really good. We would have both of these dishes again.
We also took two half subs home and they were good too. One was tuna (excellent) and the other was their Italian.
I hope their pizza is good. We will try it next. They also say they deliver within five miles.
Try it!!

I posted a while ago to this forum, but I don't know if I mentioned these--
Groucho's on Cherry Rd., directly across the street from Winthrop, is really good. More of a college crowd eats there, but the food is great!
Also, the Shrimp Boat on Cherry Rd. is an artery-clogger, but they have good fish. There's another one right off Heckle Blvd. too near Saluda Rd., I wanna say. I don't personally think that either can compare to the Shrimp Boat in Gastonia, NC, but they're pretty good. They also serve chicken, which everyone loves. One of my friends loves the pork chops that they offer.
The other restaurants I eat at are national chains, so I can't really contribute much else. I guess I need to eat more! :P

DJ's Soul Food (Herlong Ave, Rock Hill)
Anyone who appreciates good "home cooking" should love this place. It is on Herlong, near 901, across from Fatz Cafe, where Debbie's Diner used to be. Been there 4 times, and really liked the food. It is a meat and veggy format, but with some hard to find entrees like croaker and cube steak. I have tried the fried chicken, beef stew over rice, and the cube steak (smothered). "DJ" makes the rounds to make sure everyone is satisfied.

Red Bowl - Rock Hill "Now Open"
I noticed a sign last night stating that the new Red Bowl on Celanese Rd, Rock Hill (near Harris Teeter) has opened for business. (Finally!) If you've tried it out, please post a review!

The website link shows this on Cherry Rd, and I've been by it there but never eaten there. Is this the same restaurant, or a different one? Two locations or have they moved?
Edit: Nevermind, I called them, they now have two locations. I think we are going to try the one on Cherry Rd. this evening.

From the NJ/NY area and FINALLY found GREAT pizza! Lorenzo's on Ardrey Kell Rd in Ballantyne/Charlotte area. Worth the extra minutes and there's a local farmer's market in a small green in the plaza it's located in on Tuesdays from 3 (or 4?) to dusk.
