Carmella's new location in the old Pizza Planet near Regent Park is excellent. Ate there last night. They have a very extensive menu and everything we had was great and not expensive.

We ate at Harry and Jean's in Rock Hill on Friday night and thought it was excellent. I had the shrimp and grits and my wife had the filet w/ lump crab meat. Entree's ranged from about $12 to $30. We used to eat at Mickey and Mooch in Huntersville quite a bit and the food quality was very similar.

What are you doing for advertising? Anything in the Fort Mill Times? Are people in Fort Mill and Tega Cay aware that you're open for business? You're in a great location, but if I remember correctly, you're on the interior of the shopping center and not visible to the drive-by traffic. Is that correct? If so, do you have visible roadway signage?
The Harry and Jeans shrimp and grits are great. They have a cheesy, garlicky flavor.

Well, I have been trying to do my part Brandie...between eating there multible times, spreading the word on this site and telling my friends about your place ...the only other thing I can suggest (in addition to what BKQC has stated)...is get in contact with the schools. I know several of the businesses around here (such as: Town Tavern, Sonic Burger, etc.) have Family Night...where a portion of the money raised goes towards the school (Gold Hill Elem and/or Gold Hill Middle). They ususally have pretty good turnouts...plus it will give you more community exposure too (if you need some contact names...feel free to send me a direct message)

We decided to give Sonny's Dutch Mill a try and tonight and thought it was great. We're big fans of Five Guys burgers and I would rate Sonny's about the same. We'll definitely be back.

Brandie. Can you confirm/deny this info? Admittedly I haven't been to Dutch Mill since before the new location opened (we usually go to Anderson Rd. locn) but my brother in law mentioned that the prices at the Tega Cay location were very high...like $7-$8 for a cheeseburger platter. Now I don't recall the exact amount but wasn't that platter like $4-$5 at the Anderson Rd. location?
Is this true? Have the prices really raised that much or was my BIL misinformed? Did you raise the prices at Anderson rd as well?
I'm certainly not one to criticize your desire for profits and I understand that rent is likely high in Tega Cay, but from his perspective the burgers were great but too expensive.

My wife and I each had cheeseburger platters and our bill was $15. This came with fries and a drink. I believe my wife added a few additional toppings. I'm not sure if she was charged for those or not.

Sonny's Dutch Mill Feedback - for Brandie
I've eaten at Dutch Mill twice. I never would have tried it if I hadn't read an article about it, because what the heck is a "Sonny's Dutch Mill"? What kind of food does a dutch mill serve? Can you add the word "diner" to the name or something to give potential customers and idea of what you have on the menu?
Also, it is not clear when you come in that you should seat yourself. The impression is that you need to go to the register to order. A welcome sign at the door would help - seat yourself.
The food is good, but I would suggest working on the atmosphere. Case in point, the music. If all you want are 80 year olds coming in, keep playing that music! (Nothing against 80 year olds). What was it - 40's big band, easy listening? Play up that fantastic 50's wall mural and flesh out your theme. Try switching to some sock hop 50's style music. Add a little pep, fun.
I can't put my finger on it, but while sitting there I felt like I was eating in a school cafeteria. Don't your customers look uncomfortable to you? Everyone around us looked like they felt out of place to me, too.
What about a TV or two? Play some 50's movies?
Good luck with your venture.
Liz
