Galleria Pointe
Hello!
I will start a new job Oct. 1st - in Uptown Charlotte at a law firm. My partner will stay behind in Franklin, NC (a tiny rural town) until January-February.
I've called quite a few apartment complexes, and have found what seems to be a good deal. It is a 1 bedroom at Galleria Pointe in Rock Hill. My budget is tight - looking to pay no more than $700 a month. I was able to obtain a 6 month lease, the manager was very motherly and helpful over several conversations, and at this point this is the best I've come up with.
Any comments about Galleria Pointe?
Thanks!

Isn that near The Galleria Mall? If so, it's ok. That is a bit of a drive to uptown Charlotte though.

When I stayed there I had no problems. Others were not so lucky. That is a big haul to go to uptown Charlotte. I-77 becomes a parking lot right across the state border. You are looking at a hr commute at least. For 700 (boy they jumped in price) you might want to try the Rea road area in Pineville or Matthews.

Thank you - I am trying to search for apartments on Rea Road and not getting very far. Can you remember any names? The problem I have bumped into is for a 6 month lease, the price escalates dramatically.
I will keep looking!

You may also consider Pineville. Sable Point and Meadow Brook. I rented a house there 3bd for $800, so you may want to look arround. Plus if they ever get light rail running you could commute fairly easy.

Not Sable Point. They have had armed robberies, at least one murder, and several problems with mold. The complex is at least 30 years old too so there are no fire sprinklers.

Inntown Suites - Matthews
Thank you, all. Although I will probably buy in S.C., it does make sense to stay for the short-term in/around Charlotte.
I have become aware of the two Inntown Suites located in Matthews (9211 and 12895 East Independence Blvd.) Because I want to house-hunt aggressively in the fall/winter, I am thinking of staying there. I will call the Matthews PD and get the scoop, and I have asked my recruiter to check them out as well.
When I add rent, electricity, water, cable, high speed internet access to rent, the Inntown Suites monthly rate is better. I wouldn't want to stay in one for six months, but a month or two wouldn't kill me.
Anyone have experience with the area in which they are located?
Thanks again, these forums are invaluable!

The Suites in Matthews should be good. You can check Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor for reviews. Just stay out of the ones that are on Independence in the city of Charlotte. Nice thing about extended stays is there is no lease and you move out right when you want.
