Default Indian Land

I have been using the forum a lot over the last week or so and I have looked through the archives a bitm but I am curious why Tega and Baxter get so much more attention than IL!

More representation, I think. Indian Land is growing fast, but still is not heavily populated - it's still pretty rural. With everything that's coming to that area and its proximity to Ballantyne, it would seem that this is a great time to buy there and enjoy a great return on your investment.

Yeap, it's growing really fast. I'm amazed at how much the value of my home as went up in the past 3 years. Being so close to Ballantyne and the Blakeney area is a HUGE plus. Every amenity you could imagine.

So Sekurit, do you live in IL? I agree about the larger number of posts for the other areas and was wondering the same thing myself. We were considering Baxter but recently started looking on the IL side and realized we can get so much more home for less money. (And when I say less I mean like $35K less!) The only difference I'm aware of that would make FM and Tega Cay a better choice is the schools. IL is closer to more things it seems and the taxes are less. There appear to be mixed feelings on the schools too. I can't help but think they'll continue improving and even surpassing many of the schools that are now highly sought after. I'd love input on the schools from anyone with more knowledge on them though. We're personally leaning toward IL and think the area is awesome.

We live in FM from a distance i chose it for the schools. Now that I am here I realize I probably could have bought anywhere and had some things I liked and did not like about any school. The key thing is if there is something you do not care for are you willing to get involved ? If yes- I would say go for the house and area you like best. As long as the school is safe as far as crime ( I do not think anyone has mentioned any of the FM or IL is not ) you should be good to go. Often it is what you put into is what you will get out of it. WHile I love my neighborhood and community part of me thinks buying in IL may have been a better investment and proably and equal house for less $$$ . My husband does not work in Charlotte so the traffic was not an issue for us. Good luck

Yeap, I moved to Indian land last october. And Love it. I was a little unsure at first, but the misses convinced me since she had just moved there 2 years prior. Knew nothing about Indian Land beforehand, but have learned quite a bit in the 11 months that I've been here. The area is really growing. We're keeping an eye out on BridgeMill, BridgeHampton as well as the new subdivisions going up right now as we want to stay in IL, but wanna upgrade to a larger place.

My step daughter currently attends IL elementary. It's hard to say whether the schools have improved b/c the growth in IL is so new. I know for a fact that Fort Mill has the best schools out of IL & Rock Hill. Not sure where Tega Cay comes into play as I'm not sure if their included in with Fort Mill or not. I think with all of the higher-end subdivisions going up in IL, the schools have no where but to go up...

To add to what megassel has said...

I think it is a combination of things..I happened to do search on this site using Baxter Village (which is a subdivision in Fort Mill Township), then another search using Indian Land, and then Tega Cay.

It turned out to be 3 pages of questions (w/answers) on Indian Land and Baxter...while there were 6 pages on Tega Cay of questions (w/answers). Leads me to believe that there are more of you out there asking about these particular areas (versus such places as: Sharon, York, Clover/Lake Wylie, etc....) .

I think there was such an influx of interest on Tega Cay for awhile (excluding that fact that we are located right off the lake)...as the homes within LakeShore were being built. While it is still an excellent place to live...LakeShore is almost completely built out now...so unless someone is looking for a resell or a vacant lot to build a custom home on...we just don't have those large plots of land that are still available in areas such as Indian Land (unless Tega Cay decides to annex more property).

In regard to Baxter Village...that was pretty much a new concept for around here...and folks were and still are very receptive to this location too (heck you are not even talking a town or city here...but a community within a Township).

Indian Land is and will continue to go thru the roof with growth. I can't even begin to tell you how much this area (IL) has changed in the last 4 years. But prior to the developers finding out about Indian Land...many in the local area could not even tell you were it truly was (you could not find it on many maps/you couldn't bring it up on Mapquest)....so it just makes sense that folks that are now looking to relocate are now finding out about the area as well.

Tega Cay falls within the Fort Mill School District

As a teacher who just purchased new con. in IL, I am of course concerned about schooling. But everyone seems to have discovered the same things as I did...that IL is the best buy right now. It's still in the speculation stage, apparently, but just on the cusp of something large. Great to be an insider on the ground level!

Is IL the next Waxhaw? My home is only two miles from the border...

What does "Is IL the next Waxhaw" mean? Is that a good thing?
