I'm headed to H.T. for SD's on Wednesday and will stop in the Publix, grab a sales ad, and check out the store environment, etc.

Traffic tomorrow horrific? I'm scared of getting into a mess going to and from work.

Wow........I got a 20 page ad in the mail.
Lots of buy one get one frees, but the rest is nothing special as compared to other chains.

Today was the grand opening... traffic was really backed up on Pleasant...they had a SHP helping people get in and out. I decided to wait a couple of days to go see it. I did get some coupons from HT which I used the $10 today..not a bad deal. I'll look at the store...but I will go where I get the best prices...actually this will be a great thing for the consumer.... I love wars between the stores...lol

Attending a grand opening event can be very busy. It will take several days for the celebration to last, then business will continue as normal.

Yes. Very packed. Police directing traffic this morning and parking on side of road behind store.

Publix has alot of buy one get free items. Same as Bi-Lo.

Publix will double coupons up to 50 cents. (yawn)
The competition doubles up to 99 cent = no war.

HT is having triple coupons this next week, up to $1.00 so the rumors are = up to $3.00/1 not counting any SavingStar or HT ZVR's.

We stopped in at the Indian Land one on Friday and it was really nice. I was happy that they are carrying several items that I have been unable to find down here. Now hubby doesn't have to go shopping when he has to go back up to PA for work. Everyone extremely nice and although we were parked rather far away, the lady insisted on taking the stuff to the car even though I told her she didn't really need to.

Of course she took the time telling me about all the different competitors coupons they take. I had teased her that they should give a bonus if you bring in HT reusable bags. She said they take anything with the words "manufacturer's coupon" on it no matter if it is specifically for a certain store or not. I'm assuming that means like the ones printed out at the HT registers. I also asked her if they would take the $10 off $50 ones that we can get through Recyclebank and she said yes. They just don't take ones for a percentage off (like the cards that HT sent us in Sun City).

We didn 't really take a super good look at everything. I will probably go back this week for a better look at everything.

We went to the one in Indian Land on Saturday, and found it to be pretty similar to HT. Some different items at one versus the other, and some things were cheaper, some more expensive, though none significantly so. It's basically seemed to be just another mid-to-high end grocery store.

That is - until you hit the bakery. It was easily the best grocery store bakery bread we've had, and I'd guess that it comes pretty close to real bakery quality. We'll come back for that.
