Pest control representatives keep knocking on my door to sell me pest control services. We're with Home Team Defense. We had two people stop by from Venture recently claiming that they've had people switch from Home Team to Venture. They all claim to be the best and talk down their competitors. Venture talks about treating my grass (seems hard to believe that you can keep bugs out of grass). Does anyone have any insights as to which company is best?
I don't buy into these companies. Kind of like Home Security and Grass Treatment (Like Scotts & Trugreen). They pay these low level salespeople to troll neighborhoods and steal business away from their competitors. IMO the best Pest Control company comes about 1 or 2 times a year on a come as you call them basis, not a contract.
There's a great guy on this site BUGGGUY is his name and I have been using him for a long time and he does a great job. He is independent, and a pleasure to work with.
We use ... Armstrong Pest Control (armstrongpestcontrol.com) a locally owned company out of Clover. This is a family owned company not any sort of big bucks franchise. We have been using this company for 20 years. Mr. Armstrong and his family are good people to work with and have always taken care of our pest needs.

Being in the property management business, I have had experience with several companies. One thing I know for sure, if they are a lot cheaper, they use a cheaper chemical. I used a pest control company that charged $40 less per month (which is a lot) than their competitors. I had bug flare-ups everywhere, where I did not have any before. A friend in the business checked the chemicals and they were really dilluted. Since I switched to another company ($40 higher per month), I haven't had flare-ups and I'm sure our residents are happy about that.
I stumbled across this thread in my search for a recommendation on a pest control company. We just bought a house and would like someone to treat for little critters before we move our stuff in. I have never used one before and I have no point of reference on going rates. Does $130 for an initial visit sound about right?
