Default Since you know exactly what Postini is, then tell me more

Postini is not some variety of spaghetti.
It's Comporum's spam-security filter if I am not mistaken.

Google to Merge Postini Email Security Services Into Google Apps - Security - News & Reviews - eWeek.com

Anyone know how that will affect our Comporium e-mail?

Thanks.

For those of you who do remember Postini, Comporium dropped them about 3-4 years ago.
There was a news story in recent weeks that Google was dropping them too.
I wondered how that might affect our mail programs, but it won't at all. So, all we can do is wait on lower prices or more choices. I am giving up my digital variety, and going 1 year contract on internet, and non contract on cable TV.

Your best bet is to get a Gmail or Yahoo email account. That way when you switch service providers, your email stays the same. I have had my Yahoo email address for over 10 years, and switched ISPs probably 5 times. Never once did I need to send a notice for everyone to update their contact for me.
Their spam filter is very good too.

Comporium is my ISP but I don't use their email. I have a Comporium email account and only receive notices from them. I have used Hotmail since Microsoft acquired it in 1997 with no problems.

Same here. I use both. Any websites that might share my e-mail address with other sites, are for Hotmail.
Comporium is for near zero risk memberships, etc. I like the Comporium "personal dashboard" I get once a week. It is very good at catching spam and I can easily scan the list in a minute or so, and see if any "good" messages got caught. I rarely find any good ones that were sent to spam.
Outlook Express has good "message rules" you can set up, and so does Hotmail.
I've used both for many years. I have friends and relatives who are on Yahoo and gmail.
