Looking to move to Fort Mill area.
Looking at purchasing a new home in Fort Mill, been in contact with some builders already.
Can someone give me information about this town? I hear great things. I know it is a up and coming city. How are the schools, I do not have children yet but very close and this is where I would be starting my family with my wife.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - I will be happy to tell you about Fort Mill. You have heard correctly - it is a charming place that takes great pride in staying that way. Very family oriented, very kid friendly - all their neighborhoods reflect this. Easy access to Charlotte, but much friendlier SC taxes. Plus, borders Lake Wylie, and the whole area of Fort Mill/Tega Cay is very recreational - walking trails, lake, tennis, swimming, etc. The schools are award-winning and regarded as the best in the state - I am a local real estate agent, and I can't even begin to tell you how many people have moved just a few miles down the road so that their children can be in the Fort Mill schools (the amount of out-of-towners coming here for the schools is huge as well). Fort Mill has a "city" side with more shops, restaurants, etc. (just a bit more commercialized) and a "country" side with historic downtown, more greenspace and parks, and things of that nature. As far as builders go, I will be happy to give you some feedback on the builders you are talking to, based on information I've picked up from residents, clients, and personal experience. You are more than welcome to private message me or email me at megan.brown@yourpru.com (I will get it a lot faster if you email here versus reply on this forum). I hope this helps! I think you'll be very happy with Fort Mill - it's growing and developing at just the right pace and is a great place to start (and raise) a family. Thanks - Megan

I live in a NE suburb of Charlotte (Concord), but I do know Ft. Mill is a great place. The schools are very good and it's close to a lot of recreational assets (parks, a greenway, Paramount's Carowinds theme park, Lake Wylie). You're also only minutes from uptown Charlotte. You'll love Ft. Mill!!!

I've vouch for the area as a Charlottean who is moving to Tega Cay soon. We're moving to get less suburbuia and more of a small town environment - more recreation right outside our doors and a more congenial feel. Charlotte is lovely, but everything requires your car and the growth in my area has made everything overcrowded. Ironically, my commute to uptown Charlotte will be shorter from Tega Cay than from South Charlotte. Probably not for long, though, with all the growth going on in Fort Mill. I'm really looking forward to my daughters going to Fort Mill schools. They're smaller and the school system is more stable.

Concord, Huntersvill or Fort Mill
We are searching for a home that is under 170,000 in any area around Charlotte. Can anyone tell me the where we can get the best house for the money. We are currently renting in the Providence section of Charlotte and the homes here are above 200,000. I have researched the schools and I found that Fort Mill and Concord had good schools and affordable homes. I have also noticed that the schools in Huntersville didn't score very well. Can anyone help us decide what area is the best all around place to raise a family?

I think Fort Mill is a great place to raise a family (course I could be a little biased as I live in Tega Cay, SC and my children attend the Fort Mill Schools ). I will say that while you will be should be able to find a a home within your price range...it does seem to be getting harder and harder to do so in Fort Mill, SC (prices are on the rise). Now, to tell you where you get the best house for your money (between Fort Mil or Concord) that is all relative...as your wants/needs/likes, etc. may be different than mine, or someone elses. Lastly, keep in mind...the two towns are different in size too.
Best of luck to you!

Regent Park
We are now focused on moving to the Fort Mill area instead of Concord. I hope we can find a house within our price range. We found a few houses in our price range near Regent Park, but What's up with the run down castles near Regent Park ? Are they going to do anything with that area?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but those are old slot machine or video poker parlors, which were legal in SC a few years back. There's a bunch of them in that 21 corridor and on the back way to Pineville.
