i keep hearing about taxes on food, but at what percent?
any idea on local state tax? SC is 5% but is there any additional percentage?
what would be my income state tax on $60,000? 2 children 1 wife (lol)plus me?
how much does the electic company charge per kwh?
i understand car insurance is cheaper which is great!
these are just a few of my main questions i havent found a web site to answer them clearly.. personal taxes are a bummer, i hear you pay a percentage for cars, boats & motorcycles anything else?

HI

My family and I just moved to South Carolina from South Florida. We love it here. Some people complain about the taxes - such as the personal property taxes you are required to pay on your vehicles before you can get a tag. I personally dont think its a big deal compared to what we where paying in general in South Florida. Our property taxes on our vehicles were around $300 for the year (the newest vehicle being a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon sports car). Your tax depends on the year and the mileage.

The sales tax on groceries is 6% - our total order of 26.95 had a $1.62 tax charged and our car insurance is definetly much lower than in South Florida.

As far as the electric company - Im not sure of the charge per kwh - but my mother usuage was 2386 and she was charged $216.10 but keep in mind that there is 8 of us currently in her 3 bedroom 3 bath home which i dont think is bad being she leaves the ac on all the time and most of time its on 67 - lol.

Over all I personally think that is much cheaper to live here even with all the taxes on your personally property.

check out this website www.surepayroll.com/calculator/
to try and determine your state taxes on $60,000 - I came up with about $3396.00 for the year - but it depends on how many dependants you claim. My mohter usually gets a STATE REFUND so you end up getting some of it back.

Good luck to you and your family
