Im relocating to york county from nc in about a month or so and i have read the vehicle tax in sc is outrageous is this true. I just purchased a new 2013 vehicle and now im nervous that the taxes are gonna kill me when i move. Any help would be great.

Example, 2013 a4=850 a year...2012 Odyssey = 700. This is what we pay. Welcome to SC!

Do you pay tax on your car every year ?
How much does it cost to licence your car every year ?

Yes, you pay personal property tax on your car every year and its based on the value. A newer car will be more for example.

The license plate is like $24 & renewal is like $10 but they won't give you a plate until you pay the car tax.

The car tax and license/renewal fees all come on one bill so most people just call this their "car tax bill".

Wow! This is expensive. But, 'they' have to get their money somewhere. Yes, the property taxes are lower in SC, but then this! It all evens out somehow!

I thought there was a max limit on the vehicle property tax? Did that change or did I imagine that? Our cars are a few years old now so its lower, but wow $900 per vehicle!
