Default Townhomes in Tega Cay

Seems there was no mention of the townhomes located in Tega Cay. we have 3 different developments I believe, and all 3 quite nice. If you want luxory chack out the homes down by the beach club.

Aren't townhomes being built inside Lakeshore fronting Lake Wylie? Last we checked they were in the $300K's.

Yes, there are new townhomes being built near the beachclub in Lakeshore, some definitely have lakefront views.

If you forget your bags at home (and I usually use a giant canvas one when I go shopping anywhere), you can buy some for a few cents. But this keeps the store's overhead down while at the same time saving resources and preventing bags from ending up in a landfill. They use a lot of measures like this to keep costs down. They have some good food selections and their beer/wine selection is great since they are a German company. Their brand of Riesling is actually one of the best I've ever tasted. As a matter of fact, I bought this computer at Aldi 5 years ago for $799 and one wih the same specs at Dell was $1600. I have never had a problem with it. I once had to call tech support for something simple and was surprised to hear a southern accent on the other end of the phone. The support center was in Texas (but they may have changed). I'm not saying I would want one right in front of my house, but if you go into the Aldi's at 49 and Carowinds it's actually a nice little store, compared to the one on Tyvola and Old Pineville for example. Oh, I often get candy there like junior mints, dots, and milk duds for 85 cents before going to the movies where the same size box is $4 (and yes it is the actual real name brand candy).
They also have some excellent dried fruit mix which is addictive.

As a matter of fact, I haven't seen too many (if any if I recall correctly) recalled foods at Aldi's. Many many major name brands have been implicated over the past year including Totino's and Hormel which you can buy at any of the "higher end" grocery stores and those are only two examples.
I would like an Aldi store nearby. Aldi in my opinion is not a threat to other grocery stores nearby, it has a specialized brand that is very familiar to Europeans, and most of the merchandise is not carried by Harris Teeter or Lowes Food etc. It reminds me more at a Trader Joe’s, just not at the same level. Although I would rather see a Trader Joe’s nearby. I agree with the York County council that there will be a lot less traffic, than having an apartment building with hundreds of residents living there (As seen recently on the news)
If you have never been at Aldi’s, I encourage you to visit one (bring a shopping bag), and you very possibly will change your mind. It has good quality, healthy, and a unique variety of food. I love their European chocolate!

The Aldi's in SC must be much different than the ones in Ohio and in Concord NC then.

Since I "LIVE" here I really can say, we are not in any position for another grocery store. I believe they said it would be 6 within 3 miles. It's just NOT necessary period no matter who owns the chain, or what chain it is.

It appears the guy has backed down a little and listened to the residents.
I think there will be something of a commercial basis on the land, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it being Aldi's. The owners contention is it will be in tax revenue and lessen the crunch on the local schools...and yes this is true. However, it's not going to help Fort Mills job situation, nor keep any additional workers in Fort Mill.

Also for us who have seen and read the councils recommendations, one of the points made was that York County has 37,000 people a day who leave York county for other areas (read Charlotte NC) because of their jobs. Well who's fault is that?

My point is, sure go ahead and put in another grocery store, yeah baby, that'll help out on people leaving their good jobs in Charlotte to work at Aldi's in Fort Mill. I don't think a lot of our college grad's would consider that a career after spending thousands to attend college.

Instead of worrying about bringing in yet ANOTHER minimum wage paying store, why doesn't the owner and the county work on getting some living wage level jobs in Fort Mill? Maybe that just makes too much sense.

Then again....I don't understand the mentality down here anyway....why do they feel they MUST build something on every piece of land down here?

Mrs P.

Mrs. P - developers continue to build because folks (just like you and I) continue to move into the area.

While I agree the need for another grocery store in this immediate area is hardly needed...I'm wondering if you are aware of the following:

Mr. Herman Stone is the land developer of the area in question. He's built many places (example: Manchester Cinemas/Rock Hill) but he has had the biggest impact in the Fort Mill Township area. Back in the late 90's he inherited several hundred acres off Hwy 160 and Gold Hill Rd. So pretty much what you see around this location..there's a good chance it was developed by Mr. Stone. Oh, that also includes Waterstone.

You're making ASSUMPTIONS now.Do you know how much Aldi's pays their cashiers? They START at 11.50 per hour and are regarded as one of the top retai/grocery companies to work for (no late hours, good benefits, 401k, etc). That is pretty far from minimum wage, more than double the current one actually. Their managers make 60-70k per year. How do I know? I know someone who used to work there and also my fiance just applied there the other day. They don't hire very often, but when they do, hundreds to thousands of applications are submitted (many with college degrees including her). They are up there with Costco and and Wegman's as far as best retailers to work for. Here is one recent listing for the Rochester NY store since the listing for Charlotte is no longer posted:

Find Jobs - Cashiers Jobs in Rochester, NY

Please do some reseacrh next time before making a post like this. Visit the Aldi at S. Tryon and Carowinds. You'll be pleasantly surprised. An Aldi's like any other store depends on the area. Visit the harris Teeter at Central and Eastway and then visit the one in South Park.

If people weren't flocking here, every piece of land would not be built on. Did you buy a brand new house? If so you are the pot calling the kettle black.

Just came back from Aldi. Bought my German wine, like Riesling and Liebfrauenmilch for $3.99 to $4.99 a bottle. And all that other deli food for half price than in all the other stores. Just because folks don't recognise the brand does not mean it is inferior.
I just hope they don't build an apartment building of 160, that's the last thing we need there. Preferable everybody would like to have the goats to stay, but that'll never happen.
