Love Baxter but the houses seem too close
My wife and I love the baxter village concept, but noticed when we visited that the houses are really close together and you don't really get much property. We would love to live in a development in the fort mill area/school district with that type of environment but more property. Any ideas?
We also looked at bridgemill in lancaster county and thought it was really nice, but heard the indian land school district is not as good as fort mill.
Any advice greatly appreciated

What area in Baxter did you look at? There are larger lots in the newer sections. Some lots are as big as 1/2 an acre and there are even a few with pools. All the houses are pretty close together though but about on par with most of the newer subdivisions in the newer sections. I always tell people here to look at lots of diffferent houses in different areas of Baxter because, unless you are looking for half acre or more, there is usually something for everyone. Generally the farther away from Town Center you get the larger the lots.
You won't get the same concept anywhere around, as far as I am aware of, except for Birkdale in Huntersville but then you don't get the Fort Mill schools. Lancaster schools at the moment are not as good but I wouldn't say they are bad. If you want acre size lots and new construction, take a look at Lynnwood Farms or look at some of the older neighborhoods.

That is part of the concept. They wanted to make it like the old villages.

I can tell you, we had the same concerns, but have been here since Jan.
The pros certainly out number that con. We walk my elementary school age daughter to school daily. We walk to the town center to get an ice cream cone or dinner.
Everyone really is in the same boat and you will be surprised how respectfull everyone else is and friendly.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Theres def larger lots in Baxter but obviosuly larger lots mean more $! I fell in love with some of the homes there but sadly it was out of our price range being its our 1st home. We ended up moving 5 mins away and when we are ready to sell Id def look in Baxter for our 2nd home! I love that Charleston Villiage feel!!

Why do so many people think they need a large lot? Baxter is loaded with public spaces that someone else takes care of better than most homeowners. I'm frustrated over America's biggie super-size self.

Our lot is 70' X 120'... Nice size for us with a drive way and garage in the back. Zero privacy in the back because of the design of the lots... We need trees... working on that one!

Thank goodness we are all different and like different things. It would be a boring world if we all liked large lots or small lots. Baxter is not for everyone but I have been very happy here. We have a great park two blocks away and we can walk to restuarants and to my salon. There are also lots of houses that back up to woods if you want more privacy. You just have to hold out for them to come up for sale. I go for more walks, often for hours, since living in Baxter than I ever have anywhere else including out in the country.

jenn good points. I lived in Celebration (another new urban community) and I lost probably 10 pounds. It was fun to walk again. Every walk yielded unique details that you simply miss when you are driving.
