Fort Mill Carolinas Medical Center
Just saw on Gold Hill road at I-77 that the new construction going on there is Carolinas Medical Center, according to the sign. Is this in addition to the Piedmont Medical Center planned on 160 at I-77 or a replacement? I haven't seen any news coverage on this new CMC.

Carolinas Medical Center, Presbyterian, and Piedmont Medical Centers all applied to the state of SC to build full blown hospitals in FM, The Gold Hill site was the location Carolinas proposed for their hospital. SC chose Piedmont for the FM hospital (their proposed location is on 160, near 77). Both Carolinas and Presbyterian have filed multiple lawsuits seeking to overturn the state decision. It is expected this will delay the construction of any hospital in FM for many years. Again, as it stands now, Piedmont Medical Center (Rock Hill) has permisssion to build the FM hospital on 160, but this will be tied up inb the courts for years.

The Gold Hill location is CMC urgent care. Slated top open in a little over a year.

It will probably have similar hours, maybe a little bit later, but the one in Baxter is operated by Tenet Health (Piedmont).

The new CMC on Gold Hill Rd will have an urgent-care center, a practice for women's OB/GYN services, a family practice, pediatric practice and cardiology services. The urgent-care center will provide basic medical services. They plan to open in October 2008.
