dance lessons (Fort Mill, Welcome: home, vs, moving to)

We are moving to Fort Mill this month. My daughter is 7 years old. She has been taking tap and ballet from a wonderful little dance studio in Ohio for 4 years. We are looking for a new teacher in SC. Any suggestions? We are looking for a little more challenge than a once a year recital.

My daughter is taking lessons at Kendra's Academy of Dance. It is located behind Lowes (across from Baxter Village). We enjoy the relaxed family atmosphere and the emphasis on community performances vs recital. Recitals are held every other year vs yearly. This is a recital year. However, we've already had 3 opportunities for public performances - at a nursing home and two public festivals. You get the performing experience without having to do special, expensive costumes.

My daughter is 3 and taking pre-ballet and tap. There is a wide variety of classes available for your daughter - jazz, modern, ballet, tap and also piano lessons in the studio.

Encore Studios in Fort Mill is awesome. They are so professional and VERY good with the little ones! So much patience, so much talent, so many happy faces coming out of dance class every week! I would highly recommend them. Their end of year recitals are completely stunning. The owner stresses that dance is fun and realizes that not every student wants to be a "professional" dancer, but that dance gives them discipline and a creative, fun outlet (while getting good exercise!). However, she also has an award winning dance team if that is important to parents and pupils. My girl came out of class one week with a "dancer of the week" sign and a certificate signed by her instructor. I cannot tell you how proud she was (and excited). It gave her quite a sense of accomplishment. Our whole experience with Encore has been nothing but wonderful!
