What is a main street or central area to get a feel of Fort Mill. We will be driving through and maybe stop for a bite to eat. Just wanted to see what the main area looks like and get a feel. An address of a business to put into the GPS to point me in the right direction

Fort Mill is tricky that way, because I'll bet different people think different parts of Fort Mill are the "main" part.

Main Street is old school - it's the older section of Fort Mill with smaller homes, Walter Elisha Park, a few shops and restaurants on Main Street. But it's only one block long.

Others might think that Baxter Village is the hub of Fort Mill - it's a huge housing development that focuses on close living - they also have a "main street" (Market Street) that includes a lot of shops and restaurants, they have a YMCA, an elementary school and lots of walking trails and playground areas.

And still others might say that the 160/Gold Hill intersection is a central area - lots of home developments, shopping, restaurants, etc. Turn in either direction and you can get to Baxter, Tega Cay, Steele Creek or I-77. It's easily one of the busiest intersections in the entire Fort Mill area.

And others might claim Regent Park as a major area - again with lots of homes, some shopping, and easy access to I-77.

If you want to look at all of these parts, put in the following places to your GPS:
- For Main Street - put in Local Dish, which is a great locally-owned restaurant on Main Street in the older section of Fort Mill.
- For Baxter Village - put in The Fish Market, which is a locally-owned seafood restaurant on Market Street. If you don't want seafood, put in Six Pence Pub, Fratelli's, Beef O'Brady's, McAllister's Deli, Cupcrazed or even Starbucks - all are on Market Street.
- For 160/Gold Hill put in Fort Mill BBQ, which is in the Stockbridge shopping center right on the corner.
- For Regent Park, put in Flipside Café, a cute locally-owned restaurant that has amazing brunch on Sunday mornings.

Here is a link to an old thread in this forum that may help you get the full picture of Fort Mill. Old, but still viable

Quick tour of Fort Mill

There is no Plaza Fiesta anymore - it has been torn down and a Cabela's (like an Outdoor World) is going up. This area has built up so much in the last 10 or more years - it's crazy! Some other items may be old as well, but this "tour" will give you a good idea of the whole Fort Mill area.
