HI- I am looking to work in the Lancaster schools but would like to live near water- any chance? I don't mind a 30 minute drive? I would prefer to drive against traffic too? Coming from the north and having lived in Charleston as well- I always pick my homes in the opposite driving direction of commuters.
We are older, so schools don't matter any more- we aren't going into a 300 home area- we are looking for a fixer upper / downsizing...we have never kept up with the Jones's' and we can't afford to go out but like community events. Suggestions?

Do you mean Lancaster, SC schools, or Lancaster COUNTY schools? And by water, do you need something significant, or something small?

Lake Wateree and Lake Wylie are the closest water options to Lancaster, SC but are not a 30 minute drive. Fishing Creek Lake (near Fort Lawn and Great Falls) might work - it's closer. But it's not that big.

If you mean the county in general, then Lake Wylie is the closest to Indian Land schools, which are in Lancaster County. Still won't be a 30-minute drive though.

Check out Edgewater. They are on the water and under 200.
