I know of a man who offers an online ordering service to restaurants and retailers in the area for an inexpensive rate. In the "configuration" aspect of his software for each restaurant it has a space for him to put in the sales tax percentage. I am aware that the sales tax for York County is 7%, so does that go for prepared foods in restaurants also. He just wants to be sure that, for example, if an item on one of his client restaurant's online menu is $12.50, when the customer is about to by it, that the price raises at the proper percentage so that it is correct. Please help. Thanks!

I think you'd be better off contacting the Secretary of State's office to verify tax rules for a business.

I recommend using an accountant with experience in sales tax filing. If you don't have one or if the business owner doesn't... DM me

State of SC - 6%
York County Local Option - 1%
Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Rock Hill and York County Hospitality Tax - 2% (Depending on restaurant location)
Total - 9% for prepared food, 7% for other purchases

I would recommend verifying with each location, as not all jurisdictions have a hospitality tax.
