Best Subdivisions in Lake Wylie
Any thoughts to neighborhoods around Lake Wylie to look at. My wife and I will be coming down in late March early April. Price point under 400k.
Thank-you for all your help and input.

There are 2 houses under $400k in my neighborhood... take a look:
www.thelandingonlakewylie.com
You can go to allentate.com and search by Area 15 and enter your price range and bedrooms, etc (more detailed criteria).
Other ones to look at:
River Hills (www.riverhillsplantation.org (broken link))
Autumn Cove
Mill Creek Falls ( Mill Creek Falls | A Lake Wylie master-planned community)
Patrick Place
This gives you a starting point...

Ryan homes is also in the process of developing a new development behind Autumn Cove. It's called Landfall and will have 2 price points (180's then $320's plus.) Not sure of the time frame of when it will be ready... they're moving dirt but they have advertised a great ammenity package. They also have Oakton in the area too. Ryan Homes.

We live down Lake Wylie road - a variety of custom home neighborhoods are down there. Sunset Ridge, Catawba Crest, Cooks Cove, and Tioga Pointe. I think you can find a few houses in the high 3's. They all have large lots - 1acre plus and we have great neighbors.

Where to live in Lake Wylie...
I've lived in and around Lake Wylie for twenty-seven years, and can promote only one neighborhood: River Hills Plantation. ( www.riverhillsplantation.org)
My husband and I have lived in three different properties within River Hills—in a small 2/2 Marina condo, a large 4/3 Bluff Villa townhouse, and a 3/2 patio home.
Obviously the pros and cons between living in a condo, townhouse or single-family home differ greatly and are personal choices. However, the one constant in these three different residences was River Hills Plantation. It's the neighborhood we love, and the neighborhood that kept us here or has brought us back after we lived outside River Hills for ten years. We left solely to afford lake front property—something we could not have done at the time unless moving "outside of River Hills." We moved back in 1996.
What's so great about River Hills? Unlike new developments, River Hills is heavily treed with mature trees. We have restrictions on tree cutting, on which trees can and cannot be felled, therefore our trees have been allowed to grow and provide the wonderful canopy of shade our residents enjoy.
Our architectural review committee assures homeowners that a purple house with gaudy cement statuary, or a white vinyl sided house with a huge plastic play-set in the back yard, or a double-wide modular home trimmed in faux stone under-skirting does not appear next door.
We also have a beautiful golf course and Country Club with pool, tennis courts, and a marina with covered slips. And best of all: security. We are a gated community, with guard gate and patrol cars. We even have our own emergency rescue squad.
I could ramble on and on. . .but my main suggestion to you is to take a peak at our neighborhood. Decide if it's for you.

I couldn't have said it better. My wife and I have lived all over the world and have finally found a place that we will call home for the rest of our lives. Here is a link to the area River Hills Community Association - RiverHillsPlantation.com There are over 20+ realtors living in River Hills, this should give you an idea of the desirability!

You might want to consider Riverpointe. It is in North Carolina but the houses start at $300,000 and up and is on the lake. There are boat slips for most of the houses. Go to Carolinahome.com and put in Riverpointe and it will bring up all the houses for sale in the neighborhood. Riverpointe has clubs, walking, tennis, pool, the lake and 4th of July fireworks like you wouldn't believe. Great neighborhood!
Also, Palisades could work for you.

Lake Wylie, SC HOME
Hello,
My wife and two kids are relocating as well from New York. We purchased and will begin building in the Ryan Homes Oakton Community (lake Wylie, SC). I think it will be a great division. There will be only 41 homesites. In addition, all lots will be heavily wooded and will not back up to any additional homes (for now). We also like that it is only 1 mile to the Buster Boyd Bridge (North Carolina Border) so we can take advantage of an easier commute, great schools and lower taxes. Please keep in mind that there will be no ammenities outside of a private/included dry boat storage, but there are plenty of pools in the area. We will be right next to a custom community called Heron Cove that have prices from 450k to 900k. I hope this helps with search. Good Luck!
