Unfortunately we had occasion to visit the Emergency Vet (Charlotte Vet Clinic) on South Tryon on July 5. After a last minute visit to TCAH on 7/1, Doc and I planned to talk the week of July 7about my kitty's quality of life and probably make that final decision (Doc has been taking phenomenal care of him throughout his decline from kidney failure). Well, kitty awoke with a massive abscess on Saturday and we decided to take him in to be put to sleep that day to spare him suffering. They were wonderful at Charlotte Vet Clinic - compassionate, respectful, supportive. They even sent a small plaster cast of his paw with a condolence card a few days later. That meant the world to us.

While it broke my heart that he couldn't take that final step at TCAH with all the wonderful people who took such good care of him over these months, his experience was very gentle and peaceful, and so was ours. I think they probably have to deal with quite a bit of euthanasia, being the weekend clinic in the area - they handle it well.

But I sure do miss seeing Doc and crew every week!

beachbumssb is on a distinguished road
I agree about the Emergency Clinic (Charlotte Vet Clinic) on S. Tryon. We had to rush our 6 year old Australian Shepherd there on New Years Day. They were open and ready to help him, poor puppy. He ended up having to have surgury to remove some stone but was very well taken care of.

The nurse there also recommended Dr. James Love at Palmetto Veterinary Medicine and Surgury in McConnells, SC to take him to for his shots (since we also were looking for a good vet in the area.) He was fantastic with our dog who normally hates the vet!! I read somewhere that he was opening an office in Clover which would be a bit closer?
