What county is this in?
Do they have various types of homes in this sub? Anyone live there or know anything about it? |

It's in Fort Mill. Go to Allen Tate Family of Companies and you can search by the n'hood name.
I know nothing about it... just searched it for you. Renee |

Steele Meadows is the Carowinds exit, south on Hwy 21 toward Fort Mill, L on Bus. 21. I saw a nice listing there: MLS 758481 for $159,000 and build in 2003. It looks like a cute ranch from the photos I've seen. You should check it out.

thanks! I'm going to look at that and a couple of other things in there. My goodness now that I've broadened my horizons I've got a lot to look at, don't I?

This is just my opinion, but if you are looking for a house that will definately increase in value, you might want to try a different neighborhood. We rented in Regent Park, which is right behind Steele Meadows, before we bought when first moving here. The prices in Steele Meadows are some of the lowest around, but looking at the number of for sale signs, the upkeep of the homes and the short time that people stay there, I'm not sure if it's a good investment. Maybe if you want to buy, then rent it out later. Just my 2 cents, and I've been known to be wrong before. (I'm not in the real estate business.)
I do think that a huge percentage of Fort Mill, Tega Cay homes are a great investment. It looks like just about everything has increased in value since we've been in the area, (2 yrs.) and not much of the mortgage troubles/foreclosures (sp?) are visible here.Last edited by covhome; 04-02-2008 at 06:21 PM. you know I know you're right - I got the same feeling about the Steele Meadows as I did about Jones Branch and although you get a boatload for your money the resale thing was a concern and I was wondering why no one else was interested. My agent told me she had "questions" about the place. I decided to put it on the back burner.
We were mulling around Regent Park, Waterstone and Townes at River Crossing the most. Townes being the most inexpensive and probably the lowest resale value potential. Waterstone was cool b/c it's so close to everything. We found something in there we liked a lot but it already had a contract on it .Yesterday we breezed through 3 small townhomes in townes at river crossing and 1 we really liked (end unit). It was cute and the price was decent for what it was. However, the bank did comps and based on that it didn't appraise by 5k less than asking price. So now we're trying to work something out there. If it doesn't work out we'll likely go back and look at something RP. I emailed back and forth with the agent for those steel meadows TH's and he even admitted it was really slow going for whatever reason. Anyway, this site and forum overall has been really great in helping me make my decisions and in learning about the area. THANKS EVERYONE! |

We live in Meadowview. And I think it is the lowest price per sq. foot, with a good resale value for your money in Tega Cay. The neighbors are all nice. Stable. Being the least expensive for the money per new housing in Tega Cay, there seems to be a demand for this neighborhood. Because people are always wanting to move to Tega Cay, you don't really have to worry about it sitting on the market for very long, unless you are overpriced. But it is not so inexpensive that you have to worry that the homes are built shoddy. You might get a house on a lot for a price comparable to a townhome. Don't know for sure. But I would check it out.

I looked at a cute home in meadowview and we were going to buy it - then we decided last minute to go an entirely different route! I really liked it though...

I'm sure you'll find just the right home. No home or neighborhood is perfect. But if you go in with the attitude that you can make a difference in your neighbors lives just by treating them as you would want to be treated, it's amazing how 'homey' the neighborhood becomes. And it seems that people all over Fort Mill and Tega Cay feel the same way.
Sappy huh? But true! |

I couldn't agree more. We lived in Nashville for 5 years and I honestly felt no desire to make it my "home" so I didn't offer much of myself to the neighborhood and such.
This time around, we plan to stick for a long time to come - and I really like the friendliness of people here. Once we settle in I'll be looking around for things to get involved in, especially with my young daughter. We are opening a business as well so I'm sure I will get to know lots of people through different branches of networking. This is hard for me because it's the first time I'm completely separated from my family (outside of my husband of course) and so here I have no one - haven't had time to make any friends yet....I can't wait to just settle in, stop MOVING already and start enjoying life! I have to say I didn't think I was going to like it here overall as much as I do. I'm glad I was wrong! |
