Default YMCA questions

I know I could easily call the Y in Fort Mill and ask these questions but right now it's much easier to ask them here 'cause I'm already sitting in front of the computer.

After you join the Y, do you pay extra to join/take certain fitness classes? I KNOW you pay extra for one-on-one personal trainer, but I'm talking about like - if you wanted to take a yoga class or a spinning class or something like that?

Default Another question about the Y

Anyone ever use the free (or should I say, inclusive) service of childcare at the Y while they work out?
I have an 18 month old daughter and I work from home but man it would be nice to go for an hour or so and work out and not have to worry.
I was thinking of the Fort Mill branch specifically.
When I lived in TN they had a super nice YMCA and also offered free childcare while you were there but I was always scared to use it - but then again, my daughter was really really small then and I was a worried new mom.
Anyone who's used this service before llet me know what you think about it.

yeah that's probably going to be the one we'll go to also it's closest to the house we're buying. Great News! Every now and then it's good to let someone help you with the child and run like a maniac on a treadmill lol.

You do need to plan the times you go. Monday - Friday a.m's are packed out. Monday after 5's, you might as well stay home. They already need more space. The outdoor pool is so packed, you can't get a chair, if you want to sit for a while. It is a nice and clean facility though.

yeah it was that way in hendersonville, tn. People know when something is good and clean so there were people everywhere almost all the time - i guess you just have to time it right and find the right day or whatever.

Man, I remember in TN you could NOT get a chair at the outdoor pool in the summer unless you were there at 6am. lol

You can bring your own chair though! I don't think many pple know that. I love their pool, although we work out at Leroy Springs. We added the Y membership for the 4 months of May/June/July/August at $26 each so we could use both Leroy Springs AND Baxter Y.

Check with the individual branchs on extra fees. The rock hill branches used to charge extra for the Yoga and Pilates classes. I haven't been to a rock hill branch in at least a year though, so that could have changed.

I know for a fact that the Baxter YMCA does not charge extra for classes unless it is something special like metabolic makeover.
