My husband is being transfered to an office in Ft. Mill. We will be coming down soon to look at homes. I have read many of the postings on this forum but many are from 2007. Although our kids are grown, I still want to be sure that we buy in an area with good schools so that our home will have good resale value in the future. It seems that Ft. Mill is the winner when it comes to schools. Could someone advise me on the Indian Land school system? Could you give me the advantages & disadvantages of both towns regarding housing, access good shopping, etc. I would really appreciate any information that anyone can give me.

Check just below Springfield there is a section called Foxwood. There are nice homes with land for sale there and are very nice with nice size yards and land unlike alot of places with very little yards. Price range is low for the area but there are great schools just down the road. Springfield middle, and elem as well Nation Ford High just opened this Sept. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any help.

Schools in York County and Indian Land (Lancaster County) are great. Ft. Mill has several new schools just completed and Indian Land just got a new Middle and High School. We moved to Indian Land from Charlotte last Fall and the change in schools has been "refreshing" to say the least. I have friends in Fort Mill that love their schools too. When looking, keep in mind that Indian Land is still called Fort Mill by many since Indian Land is not yet a city and is served by the Fort Mill PO. We did get a new ZIP code last summer but it comes up as Indian Land and Fort Mill. Many homes listed in the Indian Land Area are listed as Fort Mill homes since that has always been their mailing address until the recent ZIP change. It can get a little confusing. As far as shopping, Fort Mill is so large, some of it has easy acess to shopping and some dosen't. The portion of Fort Mill right off I77 has a ton of shopping available. Indian Land is right on US521 which gets you to Ballantyne quickly and there is some new retail planned over the next fw years. We chose Indian Land because we wanted a slightly more rural setting (but I don't know how much longer that will last). Good Luck! I am sure you will be happy in either area.
