Do a google search for the Mitchell Gold Outlet and the Bernhardt Factory Outlet in Hickory. Both of these companies make couches, chairs, ottomans, etc. for the Pottery Barn label (in addition to others). They are true outlets; you cannot order anything from them. You buy directly off the floor and you pay anywhere from a 25% to a 75% discount off the regular PB catalogue prices. My wife and I have purchased 2 couches (1 sectional), 2 leather chairs, 1 fabric chair, and 2 ottomans from both of them. They all have the PB label. The key is to be flexible and be willing to make a few trips over a couple months period of time because you never know what they're going to have available. If you don't find anything you like, ask the salesperson when their next shipment is coming in. I actually prefer the Bernhardt Outlet because their inventory is a little larger, but both are excellent. The Mitchell Gold Outlet is a little trendier and I'd say slightly higher priced, but you'll still find excellent deals. They both use 3rd party companies to deliver the furniture if you don't take it with you. You pay sales tax if you take it with you or if it's delivered to NC. There's no sales tax if they deliver it to SC. Best of luck. |

I just bought a Bassett table from a retailer (Carolina Furniture Mart - Name Brand Furniture at Discount Prices) for $700 less than I could've bought at the retail Bassett store. This store is in Lincolnton.. so no state sales tax and only $40 for delivery.
So if you find something at Bassett that you like, shop around! |
