We are trying to decide between buying/renting a house in River Hills (Crowder Creek Elementary) or in Tega Cay (Gold Hill Elementary). Our son is really into youth sports. We know that the Fort Mill area is full of opportunities for extra-curricular activities but we are unsure what is available for kids in the Lake Wylie/Clover area. Any input?

We just moved to the Lake Wylie area a month ago. The only thing we have found lacking in youth sports in this area is lacrosse. My son plays for Mecklenburg Youth Lacrosse right now & its about a 1/2 hour drive. Other than that, everything else seems to be offered!

Lake Wylie Athletic Association, Clover recreation, Clover Athletic Association or xtreme youth sports. River Hills has a pool, but I am not sure if they offer lessons. what kind of other activities are you looking for? Fort Mill may be the choice for you as they are a little closer to charlotte and they have the sports complex. We chose Lake Wylie b/c of lesser traffic
. Was there other activities besides sports he is interested in? |

Not to be forgotten, just across the bridge (Charlotte side) is the Steele Creek Athletic Association with football, baseball, and basketball. The large organization and grounds on which they practice/play are testaments to the community's feelings about youth and families. The fields were purchased and are still maintained by the community. It's a warm, friendly area. That's just a tip of the pot. There's more. Most areas around Lake Wylie hold friendly people. The Allen Tate website should be very helpful to you...as would a realtor.

Be on the watch this summer as lacrosse camps and clinics are coming to both Fort Mill and Tega Cay. Write me privately if you're interested in more information.
