I moved into a new home in York almost a year ago and all my neighbors and myself are having a tiny (but millions of them) bug problem. The little buggers love being on the concrete front porch and driveway but are starting to enjoy our comfy home. I treated the lawn with a Ortho bug gone Max and it seemed to be helping but they are back in increasing numbers. I also spray treated the complete inside & outside perimeter of the home with Ortho home defense Max and that seemed to do nothing to them.
They kind of look like lightning bugs but are tiny and look like little specks. Below are a couple pictures of them on the 1/4 round trim at the floor. ![]() ![]() |

I think those are what they call Silverfish. I could be wrong but they look like what we have at work. I guess they are hard to get rid of. I don't know a whole lot about them but you may have to consult a professional to come take care of them. Maybe do a google search on them?

Those things a pain to get rid of. The problem is they are resistant to most everything you put on them!
I think that Ortho stuff is mainly for ants, depending on what type you buy determines what bugs it will kill. The thing is, that what is poison for one bug, might be harmless to the next, and after a number of seasons, they become resistant to whatever you put on them (Ortho changes their formula quite often, if I'm not mistaken). Your best bet is to get some of the stuff in the spray can, sweep out the dead bugs, then try and seal up any cracks, or anywhere you see light on the inside. If that doesn't work, there are a few other little 'tricks' I could recommend. |

Thanks for replying.
They are not silverfish. My wife has seen silverfish before. There appears to be 2 different kinds of bugs with one being a lot smaller. They also seem to jump but are not fleas. |

Yep sounds exactly like them. And we recently added some pine mulch beds which is where they are described to have huge nests.
