Default Looking for Good Pediatrician in Fort Mill

Hi--

I am moving from Houston to Baxter next week, and am looking for a good pediatrician for my 5-year-old twin boys. They were preemies and one of them has had a few developmental issues and has needed Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy, as well as leg braces for toe-walking. The boys will be starting kindergarten in the fall, and the one who has needed the therapies has shown a few signs of having add/adhd (according to his therapists), although he has done very well in a structured preschool program. I am looking for a pediatrician who has a solid knowledge of developmental delays and birth issues, and who also views medication as a "last resort" for add/adhd. (As a former teacher, I am very aware that some kids can benefit from medication, but I also saw enough to know that some pediatricians are very quick to write the prescription. I just want to make sure that whoever I take my boys to will consider all possible options and interventions first.) Also, I would like to choose a doctor who will listen and not rush through office visits, and who will interact well with two lively, active little boys!

Thank you so much for any suggestions. This is our second move in less than a year and a half, and any help will be greatly appreciated!

Red face Kids First

Hi,
I just moved to Baxter as well and had the same question. Although I haven't tried them myself, several mothers have said that Kid First Pediatrics in Ballantyne is well worth the drive. The website is Kids First Pediatrics. The doctors seem to be very well educated and the mothers that I have spoken to here say that they are very caring and in tune with the kids. Good luck in your search. Incidently, I also have a five year old boy. Post again when you come to town, maybe I can help with your adjustment.
Good luck!

Default Pediatrician

Hi, I am new to the area as well, and I found this site to very helpful. I chose the Charlotte Pediatrics and so far, I've been happy with them.

Pediatrics Locations

During my research, I've been given great recommendations on a few of these pediatricians. I chose Charlotte Pediatrics for the extended weekend hours and they have about 15 Pediatricians on staff.

Hope this helps...

PS I also have twin boys ...(age 2 1/2)

Deb

I would highly recommend Dr. Paccico at Arboretum Pediatrics. She is a wonderful doctor and the practice is great. Dr. Satterfied is also very good and very popular. I believe the practice also has "sick" appointments on Saturday morning. The practice is located in Charlotte right across from the Arboretum. Hope this helps!

I live in Rock Hill and my 5 yr old has ADHD. He is seeing a therapist now and will be seeing a psychiatrist in September. I am about to go insane with his bad behavior. He won't listen no matter how much he is put in time out and things gettin taken away from him. I can't deal with it anymore. I just hope and pray this psychiatrist is as good as people say he is. Dr. Hobgood at Catawba Family Medical Center is where he is going. Therapy is not working for him at all. Today has been the worst day of my life dealing with his behavior and not listening. I do love my boy with all my heart. I just wonder if he will ever get better. It is so hard dealing with this. I have never had to deal with this before with my first child who is almost 20 yrs old. My 5 year old does have a good heart. He is lovable. I think I need therapy to get rid of the stress I go through with him. I have high blood pressure and it's not good for my heart rate to keep going up because he absolutely will not listen, will keep making screeching sounds, runs around the house and is very fidgety. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions or advice. I am about to explode!!
