Default Another "Coming in this weekend.."

I'm coming in for a quick "get to know the area". Any highlights or must see things? tips? I'm staying in Arrowood (NC) and one person said don't go out at night....Hotel didn't say that when I made the reservation.

Most likely due to vampires in the area.

Lol SatTerra...

Like any major metropolitan area Charlotte has its good and bad areas. I think the person who told you that is viewing things from a half empty perspective. You are in between two malls that cater to different scales. South Park and Carolina Mall. Then you have the city itself with many new high rises and its own culture. North you have the Lake Norman area which is nice. To the South you have South Carolina with Fort Mill there are some scenic areas there. To the west of you there is Lake Wylie. Finally, to the East there is the Balleytene area which is trendy and nice to walk through.

Personally, I would say for you to visit the area with an open mind and to notice how people interact with each other. In my short time here I can say that the pace of life is slower and more relaxed. Also, the ability to look people in the eye without getting a death threat is another major plus.

Oh and beware the vampires that the other person mentioned

While the location you are staying at will more than likely not be the most scenic of areas...to tell you the truth...I would rather you stay there than any of the hotels across the street from Carowinds (in Fort Mill, SC).

Just like anywhere else you need to use caution (and don't leave things in your vehicle)...heck when we first moved out here we lived at the Embassy Suites on Tyvola (Charlotte, NC) for over 2 weeks...while it seemed perfectly fine to us....we were told afterwards that we to shouldn't have gone out after night.

Highlights: Anne Springs Close Greenway (Fort Mill, SC) - Rock Hill (Main Street) - Lake Wylie (Buster Boyd Bridge) - Dave Lyle Blvd/Rock Hill (Shopping, Restaurants) - Peaches are in Season (The Peach Stand - Fort Mill, SC) - Knights Stadium (Rock Hill, SC) - Historic Brattonsville (McConnels, SC)

Happy Hunting!
