We have often thought about moving to Fort Mill SC. We are currently living in Florida and construction is very slow right now. How is the construction over there? We do just about anything. We would love any feed backs about construction.

They just said in the paper some new developments have slowed down. The area is still growing, I think, maybe not quite as fast and furious as it has been. [which has been at an unreal pace]

It has been so slow here in Tampa, FL we just can't believe what is happening. We are open to move up to Fort Mill. We visited last summer and we really liked it a lot. People were nice. It always goes back to will we have enough work.

Construction has slowed down a bit, but it is still progressing. The area has grown so much in the two short years, that I have been here. It is still affordable to live it this state and there is talks of expanding Fort Mill, by another bunch of acres that the Springs Company may be selling. I have family in Brandon, Fl. and they are thinking of coming up, too. Not enough jobs down there and their home values are falling.

Lots of layoffs in the construction industry lately - just as a warning. The housing market is not as dire as elsewhere in the nation, but there definitely isn't much activity going on right now. DH is in the industry and knows at least 15 people personally who have lost jobs.

I just stayed with relatives in Fort Mill, S.C. for two months before moving here to Western North Carolina about a month ago. From my observations while in Fort Mill, there is not a patch of land where they are not building a strip mall, town homes, office spaces, a chain establishment, or the always popular "mixed use" type of construction. It appeared to me that there was still a frenzy of building going on in that area, didn't look like much of a slowdown to me, not yet anyway. Needless to say, all that mess doesn't appeal to me, I was glad to get OUT of there!
