Default relocating and have no idea!

After getting my RN next year my long term boyfriend and I are looking to relocate to SC. We are coming down in October to check out some areas so your input would be wonderful!

Here is what we're looking for:
1. low crime, quiet neighborhood
2. tolerable commute to a major hospital (preferably a trauma center) for me to work
3. house prices that aren't driven by tourists
4. within close (20 mins away) proximity to stores/restaurants.
5. good public school district

Thank you so much for your help!

Sounds like Fort Mill be able to offer you what you want.
Carolina Medical Center is about 20-25 minutes away, in Charlotte. They are also opening a medical center in FM, on Gold Hill Road, in September 2008.
To the south, in Rock Hill, you have Piedmont Presbyterian Hospital, about 15-20 minutes, depending where you locate in FM.
Crime rate is very low. Home prices are moderate. Very nice and quiet residential neighborhoods, mostly communities.
You have a lot of shopping, supermarkets, restaurants, entertainment and commerce, within Fort Mill, or close by you have Rock Hill or Charlotte. Within 20 minutes, either way, you have about 3 shopping malls. You pay less tax in SC.
Fort Mill schools are some of the best in the state.
My best suggestion is to come down and see for yourself and decide if this is want you would want.

Welcome down Hon. I moved from Bawl'mor in 94. Sorry to say, as far as I remember, I felt safer up there than in Charlotte. But definitely consider Fort Mill. York County takes a sterner hand with criminals than does Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

Definitely check out www.carolinashealthcare.org for jobs. And since you'll be graduating, I'm guessing you'll have loans. Go for the gusto and ask about Loan Forgiveness when you interview with HR.

Fort Mill USED to be in the middle of nowhere. Everything has caught up with it. You will be able to go to all the major stores within a 10 minute drive. 15-20 if you want to go to Southpark Mall (Neiman Marcus and such).

Happy relocating.
