I'm honestly wondering what is wrong with Northerners? My family is looking to move to the Fort Mill area from Vermont (my husband is from FL and VA originally, so he doesn't count as a Northerner, but my children and I are) and your statement made me a little nervous that folks down there have a negative opinion of us.
PugluvrVT,
Please don't take all those statements on the thread to heart. If you happened to notice the posting dates, the last comment was posted in Sept. 08, so those posters may have a different outlook by now. We've always lived in the South, and moved to Fort Mill about a year ago. We've met a lot of friendly people from the Northern states here in our neighborhood, and we are pleased with the warm, welcoming atmosphere of Fort Mill. Come on down and join us! You will be very happy here!

I moved my family here from the North months ago and we love it. We're "Yankees" at our church (in a nice way) but we're not the only ones. There are native folks here (co-workers) who resent Yankees moving down, but people in general are friendlier here.

A good percentage of the people here are transplants, too. Being a Northerner, I'll tell you that we will be treated better than you expect. We are all here for the same reason, to avoid the high cost of living, better quality of life, a friendlier and more adequate way of life. I am sure you will be happy here and your children will have plenty of activities to choose from.

Being new to the Fort Mill area, only 3 months now.. We love it. We bought a new house in the Reserves at gold Hill. it is close to everything and the people have been so friendly. The schools are awsome and my kids adjusted very well. My son 8 is in Tega Cay baseball, and we actually joined the Co-ed Tega Cay kickball. Its a fun place to live with alot to do. PM if you have any questions.
We have lived in Fort Mill almost 4 years and love it. We have girls in 2nd & 4th grades. The school system is the best in SC. If you let me know your specifics I will try and give good advice. For shopping on SC 160 near I -77 there is a Lowes and grocery with a Super Walmart 1 mile away. Just a across the state line at 160 & Hwy 49 is a large shopping center called Rivergate with a Home Depot, Super Target , Best Buy plus several other stores and dining choices. Where are you moving from?
Does anyone know if there are builders in Tega Cay or Fort Mill that will buy my home just outside Raleigh NC for a new home in SC?
We have a five bedroom, 4 bath home valued at around 400k and want to either swap for equal value or we will buy up to 600k if the builder or seller will buy our home. (house is only 2 years old)
