Tega Cay??
I need some advice.. We are looking to buy a home for around 400K in Northern SC, what is the BEST place to consider?? Tega Cay, Lake Wylie, Boiling Springs???
Any areas to stay clear of?? Jobs are not a concern (work from home), just a safe, area with great schools.
Any input will help.

Well, first off the dollar amount you are looking to spend will buy you just about anywhere you wish to go.
For me to give you my biased opinion...I would have to say Tega Cay is the BEST place to be (safe, excellent Fort Mill schools, parks, golf, lake,...and on and on and on...and oh did I mention that is where I live )...But seriously..on a little bit more of an unbiased opinion I will go on to say that Fort Mill is a great area too...as is Lake Wylie/Clover (Clover School District). I'm not real familiar with Boiling Springs so I will not comment on that area.
If you have never been to the area...I think it's just going to depend on what feels right for you and where you wish to call home.
Good Luck with your search!

I don't live in SC, but I'll second what LTC said. FM/TC are great areas and Clover/Lake Wylie (where my brother and his family live) is great as well.

From a professional standpoint I'd have to say Tega Cay. You can get a nice home there for that price in Lake Shore. If you'd like a website where you can view available homes send me a pm.

If you're not worried about a commute, I'd agree Tega Cay is nice. We almost moved there (currently in Fort Mill), but decided to buy another home in FM due to the proximity to Charlotte ... Tega Cay is nice, but just a little further out of the way.
We loved Lake Shore, and just about bought a house in there.
You can also get a nice house in Baxter for $400k. I didn't want to move there because our price range was a little lower than yours, and the houses are not great in the $300k range (my opinion anyway). But for $400k, you can get a great house.

My choice would be Tega Cay. They have their own Police Dept (small but present), good school district, and convenient location. The homes in the newer sections are nice.
