okay...well now you are changing it around a little bit from your original posting on the NC side Which is fine...but while this is a great area to live in...I don't think its known across the land as the hot spot for singles to come hang (but what do I know...I am an old married lady). Your idea of happening when your 30 and single...might be different than when I was 30 and single...but looking back on how I was then...I'd be looking in either the uptown Charlotte area, or around the South Park area (of Charlotte)....and on that note...thank goodness I am neither 30 or single anymore...makes me tired just thinking about it!

Best of luck to you!

Well, I talked to my realtor about my choice of Lions Gate community in the steele creek area, and she felt that it was a safe area. The place there is more in line with my budget, so I'm going to go with my gut and hope I dont regret it. The Whitley Mills area was cute, but a little expensive with the upgrades I was looking to do... and on a teacher's budget. People's opinion was so drastically different on Lions Gate, hopefully things will work out.

I just checked out the Whitley Mills community yesterday and thought is was cute and found a floorplan that meets my needs, but there are only two left and I might have to make a decision pretty quickly. Does anyone have thoughts about the community? Do you enjoy living there and still find it safe and good location? Do people take care of their homes?

Default Whitley Mills Subdivision (Parking Nightmare)

I understand that you have children and desire a neighborhood safe for children. Several of my neighbors and myself have expressed our concerns over the extreme parking issues in the neighborhood. Cars are parked in the streets constantly, several overnight. Once and ambulance had been called to a residence and was unable to reach the house, until the those asked with parked cars in the street to please move them. A friend visiting me, backed in to a trash can on the street trying to manuvuer out of my drive without hitting the parked cars. My greatest concern is for the little children playing, when they cross a street behind one of these parked cars; people trying to manuvuer there vehicles to there own drive--will a little child dart out.

Also, the neighborhood is very junky looking, 80% of the residences use their garages for ???, something other than parking their vehicles.

They do not respect the general appearance of the neighborhood, 80% of the homeowners do not park there cars in their garages. There has been an issue from the beginning concerning the volume of cars parked in the streets. Junky looking neighorhood due to this.

Thumbellina I have to agree with Alexasmommy330. You are mistaken. I live there and always see my neighbors doing yardwork. There is no guideline that states we MUST park our cars in the garage and I would much prefer that my children be able to access their scooters, bikes, rollerblades etc. easily than have to maneuver around our vehicles and damage our cars. With respect for cars on the streets....You do express a valid concern, but I have to applaud those that park on the street during the daytime. Why? Because as you put it having to maneuver around the parked cars...this requires that the drivers trying to make it to their driveway SLOW DOWN. I have no issues with my neighbors or community, I enjoy the fact that everyone is friendly and polite. They respect each others privacy yet still keeping an eye out on each others home and children.
