Updating an old thread I just came across ...

Regarding over the air antenna reception in York and Lancaster counties, this topic has not been recently addressed since the FCC repack which began in September 2019 and completed in 2020. Most major broadcast TV channels changed frequencies, except for WBTV, WIS, and WLOS. In most cases, the digital signal has improved.

WBTV always enjoyed the strongest coverage digital signal from Charlotte, and now WJZY is approaching the same. Both WJZY and WCNC have now top mounted their transmitting antennas, giving them stronger coverage areas. Also, WSOC is improved, as their new frequency is lower on the spectrum, and a bit higher on the tower, in addition to several translators. WCCB may also be a bit improved due to lower spectrum, and SCETV has increased coverage from Rock Hill.

Also in York and Lancaster counties, you may also still be able to receive signals from Greenville-Spartanburg and Columbia, as long as your antenna has VHF elements.

A good attic /outdoor antenna that can also be used indoors is the Antop 800SBS, Marathon Plus, or HD Unlimited. These are all compact antennas with a similar design, that features a UHF panel, VHF dipole, built in amplifier, and indoor stand. Compact, reliable, and efficient. Better than the Walmart indoor variety which may cause poor or limited performance.

Any reports of recent reception are welcome to update.

We have one of those indoor leaf antennas in our guest room since we so rarely have guests, and we get good signals from all the major stations and a few others. No complaints on our end!

Sounds like good reception since the repack changes. Good to hear.
