Moving to Rock Hill area.. Need Apartment advice/info

Just referring to comments on apartmentratings.com and from apartment leasing experience.

I don't believe everything I hear, but I have talked to a couple of residents who wanted to leave. But, like I said, you have that everywhere and I ignore most of it.

Leave Galleria Pointe or a apartment in general. I know not to trust ratings but at the same time with that many reviews and all center around 2 center themes (ie maintance and office staff) one has to wonder.

Anyone know anything about these apartments (trying to elimate some before calling them since I don't think any has email, which for the record seems like alot of companies in SC fear email or don't answer it)

Stay away from anything on Riverview Rd in Rock Hill. I stayed there for 1 month when I transfered here from Florida. Most if not all of the apartments are just north of Celanese Hwy 161 just a light away from I-77.

There was a nice studio apartment complex across the street but cars would get broken into often and you get my drift since I was only there for a month. I was limited to a hotel room or this and I had already lived in a hotel for a month on the company tab and could not afford 30 days of a hotel/food out of my own pocket. It was furnished and had some linens so it was OK for myself but I was nervous for my work truck and had to leave all of my expensive test gear and tools at another location every night and pick it up in the morning every day. After a few weeks I found a rental home, had a contract signed and on the 30th day, it's mostly what they cater to there, corporate workers and people moving.

About 15 months later Rock Hill had a cold blooded shooting at a check cashing store, ended up being one of my wife's employees getting a money order or something when the place got held up. He shot her in the back and then shot her in the head once she was down and ran off, this was after holding up another 3-4 places in the area and even shooting the former mayor of Fort Mill in another robbery. I think he also shot one of the owners of a seafood market in Rock Hill, he was a real character just did not give a Fu*% about life. The guy was tracked and arrested several weeks later at those apartments across the street from where I stayed.

These are very old and need extensive remodeling and upgrades:
Country Club
Cherry Grove
Gallant Place

Other:
Carriage Hills and Carolina Place are under going renovations.
Cobb House: old building downtown, several stories w/elevator.
Farrow Place is for seniors only, usually have long waiting list
Amherst Arms is usually full, privately owned & managed.
University Place is next to Winthrop campus, mostly students, but they are trying to open up to public to make some money.


Would not recommend these to a good friend that I would want to keep:
Stonehaven
Stones Crossing
Heather Heights
Cable Oaks
Mallard Pointe

Best bets for a 3 bedroom that I would recommend to a friend:
Cowan Farms
Galleria Pointe
Forest Oaks
Manchester
Bradford Park
Fairlawn Villas

Don't know much about Fort Mill apartments.

We looked at Bradford Park, a little too small for our tastes and the lack of onsite storage units was a negitive. The rest I will have to check into a big THANK YOU

I lived at Brookstone Apartments for a bit, I thought they were very nice, and affordable. I had a 2 bedroom there, 1200 square feet for 770 I think. That was in 2007 though. Good luck!

for 1100 a month you should be looking at house rentals lots of choices in that range or less. try muse reality they have some deals come up often.
