Lake Wateree is pretty close to I-77 and is a great area if you're into kayaking. There's also lots of other kayak spots for day trips.
Google Maps
I'm not sure what the schools are like there, but it's close to Great Falls which is having to close the middle & high (?) schools b/c of money shortage - the students will have to be bussed into Richburg.

I practically grew up on Lake Wateree! I absolutely love it! I know the taxes are pretty high, atleast on the Kershaw County side. Not sure about the Lancaster side.
It's a great little place. I've got a soft spot in my heart for it.

Its a very nice lake, property prices seem high for the area though, especially on the water.

The maturity level lacks with people that have nothing else to do but cut at others.
I would hope that what ever is in charge would look over this person and decide if clown acts are needed at this forum?
It is more than obvious that this City Data is your only life!!!!!!!!!!!
I leave for lack of content.

Great Falls isn't closing down.
Lake Wateree is a great place to live. Ex. on the Fairfield County side.

The Chester County School District was only studying the idea of closing the Great Falls schools. They have now decided not to do so, so the Great Falls schools will remain open. Of course, all public schools in South Carolina are at risk, not only because of the present economy, but also because of the totally inadequate funding process which was put in place two years ago. Even at the time, it was known that the one penny sales tax would not even start to fund the public schools, and local districts now are prohibited by state law from funding schools with a local property tax on housing. Until a better means of funding the public schools is found, all SC public schools will be at risk, and some schools will be closed.
