I am thinking that I heard the first week of May, give or take.
I applied there but got a postcard rejection. I'm sad as we sure could have used the employee discount! Don't know why, but I suspect either my age (56) or I'm overqualified. Unfortunately, this happens when you don't get an actual face to face with someone. Yes, I know I'm overqualified, but I wouldn't have applied for the position if I didn't really want (and need) the job and could have convinced somebody of that face to face.
Lowes of Indian Land will open May 27. They have not started stocking yet---the steel shelving is being installed this week. Regarding employment there--they will employ approximately 150. They had an employment office open in Il for several weeks. In the end they offered jobs to less than 50---the rest of the employees will transferr from other Lowes stores, who are downsizing their own workforces due to the recession. I understand there were 1700 applicants for the new store. A friend of mine went through 4 interviews, had the drug test, etc. then was told she was over qualified. Very sad....
It's definitely some hard times. I know a bunch of people in Lancaster without jobs. Unfortunately, more and more people are being layed off, and no new businesses are coming to Lancaster.
We have an Economic Development Corporation here, they're supposed to help bring in businesses to help with that, but I feel they've been unsuccessful for the most part.
Went past on Sunday & it looked open. The parking lot was packed & people were going in and out.
Not open yet. Those are workers getting it ready.
