Thanks rothbear. I'm all for progress in this neck of the woods, however it does sadden me when I witness trees coming down. Do you know if other stores are going in there as well? I'm also curious about plans for Cornerstone (across from Sun City). Have you heard when it's supposed to start? I saw plans for it and it looks fantastic!

I have heard that a few other things are coming to the area, but not necessarily right at the WalMart. I personally am hoping for some nicer restaurants. I would love to see an Olive Garden or Applebee's here on 521. Hubby desperately wants a Chick-Fil-A.
Last time I heard, Cornerstone had basically been put on hold indefinately. The only thing going in right now is the Walgreen's and a professional/medical building. Who knows when the rest will be built.

It's a SUPER WalMart. I can't wait until I can finally bring my prescriptions closer to where I live and don't have to run up to Sam's Club to get them every month. We don't have prescription coverage on our health plan and CVS and Walgreen's are WAY too expensive when you are paying cash for them! My one allergy prescription alone is almost $50 cheaper at Sam's than CVS. I just about choked when they gave me their prices.
Plus it will also be nice to have cheaper groceries as well. Although I love Harris Teeter's sales, regular priced stuff (especially produce) is too expensive there and not a whole lot better at Lowe's Foods.

I read in the paper this week that the Wal Mart on 521 is expected to open August 2010. I also keep hearing a Cracker Barrel is coming to Indian Land near Sun City. Not sure yet if it's true.

I've heard a rumor that this is supposed to be the largest Wal-Mart in the country, from someone who is working on construction there, but I have no idea where they got that. Hopefully it doesn't snarl up traffic too much. If I lived south of it, I'd be pretty concerned.

Oooh..........I hope so! I love Cracker Barrel and hate having to go clear over to Rock Hill for one. But I would still like to also see Olive Garden or Applebee's as well.

Largest one? I hesitate to believe that because what they are clearing doesn't really seem to be much larger than what I have seen with other ones. I do live south of it and the only thing I'm concerned about is that puts another red light on 521. Already way too many of them and invariably if I get one, I get all of them. I'm also really annoyed at the new speed limits. They didn't need to lower the speed limit, they just needed to enforce the ones they already had in place. Anyway, yes, it will cause some traffic increase, but hopefully the biggest problems will just be during rush hour, and I try to avoid being on 521 during that time.

Walmart
My understanding is that it is not a Super Walmart because it won't have an auto section. They are supposed to open in fall 2010 and there will be a McDonalds on the site.
As for others, they appear to be rumor at this point, at least until the economy improves.
Aldi's is grading at Marvin/521. Not sure what the time frame for building is.

The sign in front says "Supercenter."
