i can vouch for the Leslie area, my aunt lives out there and it is always nice and quiet.
i used to live on 901 highland creek subdivision, which was just okay. it was 10 minutes away from every thing, but just across the tracks from the poorer part of Rock Hill. never had any problems with noise or crime, nothing like that, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

I've lived both within the city limits and in the unincorporated county. I tend to think you get what you pay for in city taxes: better police and fire protection, better trash and yard waste pickup, city utilities, etc., as well as lower homeowners insurance premiums. If you opt to live outside a city, be sure you have water and sewer service, at a minimum, unless you like dealing with wells and septic tanks. (And some areas in York County aren't suitable for septic tanks.)

I live in the Fairway Subdivision, which is very new. Its very close to the Country Club. The subdivision is very versatile. We have not had a problem with crime at all. The first people who moved here look out for each other if the other is not home. The yards are not very big though. But then, I grew up in the country in GA with five acres. Anyway, I do love it in SC. I love the idea that I can speak my mind and know I am going to find folks who feel the same as me.

You should come down and check the area out. I would suggest you rent a house for a year and then decide where you want to live. I have lived in SC only 9 months and from what I read in the newspaper there is a lot of crime in Rock Hill. It wouldn't be a place where I would want to live. There are a lot of crimes involving guns.

If you're not set on Rock Hill, then check out Clover, SC. I live in a brand new neighborhood, Oaks at Clover. True Homes is the builder, go to www.truehomesusa.com and look for that subdivision name for more info. Clover schools are some of the best in SC (if you decide not to continue home schoooling). Clover is still a small town with a nice small town feel, but is 15-20 mins from huge shopping and big city living. Is 45mins to downtown Charlotte. We LOVE it out here!!
Good luck with your search!

+1. As a Connecticut (Wethersfield) transplant myself, I would recommend finding a decent apartment/house to live in until you are comfortable in a specific house. Trust me, SC is much larger than CT and there are sooo many places to explore. Charlotte is a booming city, and there are many new developments on the SC side. You really have to be down here to experience the area yourself and get a feel for what you will like and feel comfortable. My other half and I are also slowly looking to move to the Rock Hill/Fort Mill area in the future.

I do not see the crime you are talking about. You cannot always believe things. Sure there are parts of the city where there is crime, HOWEVER thats the way it is all over. Anyway, I love this area and wouldn't change where I live.

Looking for 1 acre in rockhill, fortmill or clover
Hi! My dream is to build a quaint ranch type home with a wrap around porch and a basement. I've always lived in homes with basements and they were such fun when we were children. You could make as much noise as you wanted. I want the same for my grandchildren when they come for the summer (I have four!)
I'm a very energetic grandma and need to be close to city life but want the solitude of country living to write my books, grow my organic garden, and power walk the trails. I love the name of Clover and leaning in that direction... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
