I would like to know as well. My wife and I were in the movie theater and it went off right at the end of the movie!

I talked to someone at the city last night who said it was a circuit problem. Not sure what that means, but it sure affected a wide area around Dave Lyle and I77.

I was pleasantly surprised that the power came back on in about 90 minutes. I figured we were in for a long hot night.

Since we are new here, can someone tell us how often power goes out here? We had a whole house generator at our last home in the north because we lost power in ice storms. I think I remember someone saying power went out when hurricane Hugo came through years ago, but is it more frequent than that?

Thanks for any info.

General power outages covering wide areas are pretty rare, barring another Hurricane Hugo!

That said local outages caused by a squirrel or the like shorting out a transformer are more common. If you live in an area with buried power lines, power outages are very, very rare.

I was in Target off Dave Lyle when that happened. You wanna talk about people freaking out...try being in a department store 20 minutes before it closes when the place goes pitch black!
