Rock Hill v/s Charlotte
Hello -
I am comparing relocating to Rock Hill v/s Charlotte. How far is Rock Hill from Charlotte? How are the schools/cost of living? Any other advise?

Depending on where you are in Rock Hill (and traffic), it can take you anywhere from 10-40 minutes to get to Charlotte. From exit 82 off I-77, you can hit the state line in 10 minutes.
The cost of living is generally going to be a bit lower in Rock Hill, and the schools are average. Lots of people, like me, live in Rock Hill and commute to Charlotte for work.

In Rock Hill, you want to live in the northern part, close to Fort Mill, Tega Cay, and Lake Wylie. If that's a little pricey for you, Lancaster is another good choice. Any of them is better to live in than Charlotte.

Not necessarily so...South Charlotte in the Ballantyne area is very nice; it just depends on how much you want to spend. I've lived in the northern end of Rock Hll at Paces River Apts and don't care for murders in the parking lot in front of my apartment. I now live in Ballantyne and much prefer the safety and pleasant surroundings.

for awhile I was considering moving to Ft Mill, but I changed my mind because you're right about the apt thing. Not too many comments that are satisfactory made in regards to the Ft Mill apartment complexes. It's not a place one would want to rent at. But since then, I've decided to buy. It was just too hard to find a decent safe place to rent. It's more a home ownership type of community anyway.

I lived at Paces River from 2003-2006, left for another complex, and returned about a month ago. I have never heard or known of a murder or any other type of violent crime occurring here in all that time. People, inclduing myself, have nothing but good things to say about the complex (and any complaints usually tend to be administrative in nature).

To add a little clarification to my previous comment, I said anywhere was better in Charlotte because driving in Charlotte is scary (at least for me it is). Perhaps the original poster is not intimidated by traffic flying by, as I am. Everyone in Charlotte always seems to be in such a hurry...just an observation.

Open your eyes up a little bit, I was a police officer in Rock Hill, and responded to violent crime calls on a nightly basis in Paces River, and there was at least one murder in the time you were living there....
As far as the town is considered, Rock Hill isn't that bad, as a whole, Charlotte is much more dangerous city, however, just like EVERYWHERE, there are good parts of town and bad parts of town. The safe neighborhoods of Rock Hill are probably a lot less expensive than they are in Charlotte
