Default Whats "to do" in Fort Mill?

I'm visiting Charlotte soon (from NY) as a possible place to live and since I'm a huge baseball fan and the Charlotte Knights just so happen to have a home game in Fort Mill when I'm in town (funny how my vacations conveniently always revolve around a baseball game!!) it sounds like the perfect opportunity to stop by Fort Mill.
Ft. Mill could be a possibility for my fiancee and I to move should we get jobs in Charlotte and look to live in a suburb not too far away. I've heard nothing but good things about Ft. Mill and have a good feeling about it.

Is Fort Mill a quiet "raise a family town" (not that that is bad) or are there fun things to do and see and also fun bars and restaurants to go too?

Any suggestions on things to do or see during the day or any ones input on the nightlife would be appreciated, this particular trip is with a buddy of mine not my fiancee so while I'm looking at Fort Mill as a prospective place to live I'm thinking this particular visit is really to get a glimpse of Ft. Mill and keep my friend entertained. Maybe paces to go hiking, golf, or water activities during the day or if their are cool landmarks to see, and a fun Sports Bar or restaurant at night? (Seafood, BBQ, etc..)

In terms of nightlife, that's easy--go to Charlotte. There are a few places in Fort Mill to enjoy a night out; some spots in the Baxter Village development are popular, for instance. But for the most part, Charlotte will have what you're looking for.

In terms of recreational activities, Fort Mill is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Catawba River and Lake Wylie, and the Anne Springs Close Greenway, Regent Park Golf Club, and Fort Mill Golf Course are located in Fort Mill.

Check out the York County CVB website for more info.

I live in Tega Cay, SC (Fort Mill area). While I highly suggest you come check out a game while you are here (Charlotte Knights)...don't get to excited...as they will more than likely be moving back to Charlotte, NC in a year or two.

I guess you could say that we are not known as party central here in Fort Mill/Tega Cay. But that's not to say we don't have a couple of local night spots...but should you need more than that...it would only be a 15 to 20 minute drive to places in Charlotte, NC.

I could suggest more...but I am only keeping it within Fort Mill/Tega Cay. Someone has already suggested Anne Springs Close Greenway (here you can go hiking, horse trails, biking, etc.), Tega Cay Golf Club (and Club House), Windjammer Park (Tega Cay, SC), or you can rent kayaks locally, or rent a boat at Tega Cay Marina. If you are looking for some local hangouts check out: McHales Irish Pub (on Gold Hill Rd.), Hoopers Bar & Grill, Fort Mill Town Tavern, there are several eateries within Baxter Village, also there is Captain Steve's (fish), Red Bowl (Asian/Sushi).
