Hi,
We are moving to the area and just don't know what to do...we feel that homes are a little overpriced in tega cay and baxter but understand why...
we are looking for a family friendly recreational area where we can live...looking to spend ard 300-350. I could use some best kept secrets if anyone has any....
Thanks so much!!!

I responded to the same question upthread, but I think you could find some really nice homes in your price range in Tega Cay if you look on the other side of the main drag from LakeShore.

O.K my best kept secret is to look in the regent park area. I bought in KB homes English Trails. I see that John Weiland is building a baxter, Birkdale like village in that area. So you might want to look into that. I believe that 300 to 400 would get you in that neighborhood. They will be selling shortly.

Have you looked into the Indian Land area?? There are some nice communities off Doby's Bridge and Hwy 160. Let me Moderator cut: Realtor solicitation not allowed here

I just bought a townhome/condo near Doby's Bridge Rd and hopefully I will be there in the next month. It's a good start for a young couple, but not home for a family with more than one child. Very nice area, nice home, and the price is good.

We are also planning on relocating to the same area. Have you made a decision or had any good feedback from this site?

What type of food entity would people like to see in the Regent's Park area, i.e. breakfast, old fashion northern diner, bagels, pizza or just munchies?

I just want to make it clear that if you buy in Fallbrook, you're not buying in Regent Park. You're buying NEXT to RP, and the n'hood is called Emerald Lakes. It's developed by the same guy who sold the land to the Morningstar church. it's a beautiful n'hood, but I was a little concerned about being THAT close to all the church stuff going on back there.
I live in Regent Park by the way.

It's all relative
If you have not checked out Spicewood or the Reserve at gold hill they both have homes in the range you have mentioned and they are jut outside Tega Cay (as is Waterstone). It really depends on what you are looking for ; number of rooms? how big lot, age of kids (as in what schools FT Mill HS is the best in area and the new Nations Ford Hs will likely be almost as good)
I just bought in Tega Cay and love it there but I looked very hard around the area and found that prices were droping in the price range I was looking at so it might be the same in your range as well. Do not let the realtors tell you otherwise find out for yourself.

I know you said you thought Baxter was overpriced, but I have to add that this is bar none the most kid friendly community around. I feel it is one of the only communities where your kids can grow up like we did. As in, they can go off and play on their own without these modern day structured "playdates". There is an unlimited amount of things the kids (music in the park and kid's movie nights once a month late spring through fall, several pool parties, block parties, etc.) and the adults. Almost once a week I am invited to some kind of cookout or get together at a neighbors house. On my side of baxter it is an easy walk to several restaurants and shops and the library. You should be able to find a very nice home for $300-350. There are some smaller homes and there are some huge homes, there are homes with tiny backyards (which is what I wanted because I am a single mom) and there are homes with large backyards. There are even a few homes that have their own pool in their back yard. And the biggest plus is that the homes are appreciating faster than other neighborhoods although all of Fort Mill is appreciating at a faster rate than homes in Mecklenburg and the rest of York County.
I grew up in York County, moved to PA for a few years, and moved back in 2003 and can't imagine living anywhere else. Can you tell I love it here!!
