Someone at work advised me there was a newer Y built in Rock Hill with an "outside" pool.

Anyone confirm this? Also if this true, do you know what a membership costs for a person who is a resident? Pool hours?

Hmmm...do not know of a newer YMCA "outside" pool in Rock Hill? There does happen to be the Aquatics Center in Rock Hill (but that is indoors)

Last year we had a new outdoor pool open at the Fort Mill YMCA (located in Baxter Village), they also have an indoor pool as well.

Just in case you are interested I have provided a link for the Rock Hill Parks and Rec. pools too.

They must be thinking of the pool at the Baxter YMCA which has a large outdoor pool, four waterslides and a waterpark. As far as I know, the only other outdoor pool is the one at the original YMCA off of Charlotte Avenue. They have done some renovations but it isn't "new".

For me, a single parent family with one child, it is $59/month I believe, or close enough. Not sure what it is for a full family membership but it is the same for all the York County YMCAs.

The Y also offers "scholarships" based on income if you are a single parent, etc. The fees are a little cheaper than the Charlotte Y's. The Y at Baxter also has and agreement with Leroy Springs Rec Center in Ft. Mill where you can use both facilities (Springs has an indoor poolbut an outdoor deck/jacuzzi).

I overheard someone talking about that reciprocal arrangement when I was at the Baxter Y water park the other day. Is it an extra $10 to add the Springs membership?

I think that is what the guy at Springs told me. Springs is close to my new house, but the outdoor pool at the Y would be worth it and the short drive.

The drive is definitely worth it - it's a great facility. They have several waterparks in the Charlotte Y system, but I think they do it better with every new one, and this is the newest. I'm so glad we have that nearby.
