Moving to Rock Hill SC from Southern Calif
Our family is relocating to Rock Hill SC. I have researched and read many horror stories about moving vans and auto transport and the damage that takes place to your personal property. Does anyone have any good reports regarding these. We will pack ourselves but need a mover to load and unload. Help!!!!!!!

The only bad thing is we have to finish loading within 11 hours. They have a driver attending the van during the load. It works for us because we can't block neighbor's garage entry (apt community). I hope that helped.

We moved to Tega Cay, SC from Southern CA (hubby's company paid for the move) and we used United Van Lines. We were very pleased with them so when it came time to move my parents out here (from So. CA) we used them again (parents dime this time) and once again we were very pleased. I gave them as a reference to another poster on this site (moved from So. CA to SC) and they also had a very good experience. Not sure how the prices will be with other moving companies but maybe this will give you something to compare them to? The contact name was Rick (714) 522-3540. Good Luck with your move!

Hi LL347! I am the other poster lovethecarolinas referred to that used United Van Lines. We moved from Downey, CA to Tega Cay, SC. It was the first time I have every used a moving company, & I couldn't have been happier with the experience! No damage, everything was on time, & EVERYBODY I dealt with at the company was friendly, helpful & nice. Since you also asked about auto transport, well, we had an EXCELLENT experience with Intercity Lines (we shipped out 4 cars). Not a scratch or speck of dirt on them when they arrived 4 days after being picked up. They are a little on the expensive side ($1605 per car), but worth it to us since we didn't have to worry about damage. Their contact is 800-221-3936 or go to their website.

I used Mayflower to move from Los Angeles to Aiken and they arrived a day early and were excellent with loading and unloading. I had a sickness in the family and they came and finished packing and were just great.
I got stuck in Los Angeles but my folks (in SC) called and said they were so good about security they were questioning my mom about being in the house. LOL

Hi Vicki,
I am still here in Downey waiting for my home to sell. Thanks for your post.
How do you like SC?
Anything you can share.
We have no children, they are grown but we have family in Camden, we chose Rock Hill as it will be middle ground for us. We've been checking out homes in that area on the internet. We really want something with a waterview or pond on the property. Part of that slower pace we are looking for compared to CA

I used to work for a major moving company. With any moving company you want the same driver from start to finish with preferrably 1 helper as well (start to finish). The driver may opt to hire additional local help on either end but it would be my preference that 1 helper be there from start->finish.
While I am at it I would want to see the truck to see how professional a driver I would be receiving. You want an owner/operator and not someone renting old company equipment.
