Any suggestions or feedback?
If you want to be closer to South Park, stay on the east side of Ft Mill, away from Tega Cay. it's a very easy drive to South Park (inerstate free) from there.

For one acre lots, maybe Lynnwood Farms off Doby Bridge Road. I saw an ad last week that they have three homes left---looked nice and in the 300-350 range, I believe. Otherwise, I think you'll be out of luck for acre lots....

In our current town we do not fear letting our kids play in the yard while we cook dinner!

Also, Are there kids sporting teams in the area. My son plays travel soccer and is into ice hockey and baseball.

Thanks,

Hey there Frank,

If you are looking for new homes within Fort Mill with an acre or more...that is going to be a bit of a problem. I could be wrong but the only location that I am aware of...that is not completely built out as of yet..is Lynnwood Farms (that moedog has mentioned above).

If you are open to resells that will expand your search somewhat in the Fort Mill area that is within your price range (you mentioned on another thread/post the amount of $450,000..I believe?) and the amount of land you would like.

Off the top of my head..here are a few:
Oxford Place
Huntington Farms
Tara Plantation
Hamilton Place (part of this subdivision is located in Meck. Cnty, NC/while the other portion sits in Fort Mill, SC)
Olde Williamsburg

Sports are pretty big here. Closest Ice Hockey is located in Pineville, NC (as stated by groove1). Soccer is huge...there are several great programs around (many of children within Fort Mill also play with the Tega Cay soccer teams). Same situation with Baseball too.

thanks lovesthecarolinas...I tried to google these but had no real luck. Do you have website address I should try?

Also, If I come down for day would I be able to cover all of these locations on afirst pass or are they geographically far from each other..

lastly, We have pretty much decided on SC, but if we were to try NC are there any similar locations you might suggest?

Frank

You could do most of the areas above in one day. In NC try Ballantyne, Blakeney, and Stonecreast, all of which are areas within the city of Charlotte on the SE side not far from SC.

Frank, here's a house search engine where you can use a pull down menu on those subdivisions mentioned above. It's set up for Area 17 (York County, SC). For example, I pulled up Lynnwood Farms and there are 5 results for the subdivision.

http://www.carolinahome.com/findHome/search.cfm?area=17

Good luck!

One thing is that the CarolinaHome website is usually not the most up to date one on current availability, so you might want to use it in conjuction with Allen Tate's search engine (I've found that one to be very good on current updates). With Allen Tate, you need to type in the subdivision; use CarolinaHome to get the correct spelling and back it up with Allen Tate.

Allen Tate Family of Companies

Yeah, Tate's site is the best in the area.

I too rely on the Allen Tate website. I have found it to be the easiest to use, most up to date, etc. When you use their site you have the option of inputing the variables that you are looking for, or MLS number, and/or subdivision name (keep in mind though...humans input this information so sometimes the subdivision name can be spelled in a variety of ways )

I just ran through the subdivision names that I gave you earlier and here are some examples (may not be exactly what you are looking for..but at least it will give you an idea of the locations). Also keep in mind these are resells...so while a house that I give you may not be brick...that doesn't mean that there are not other brick homes within the neighborhood.

Oxford Place MLS 709313
Huntington Farms MLS 675345
Tara Plantation MLS 686661
Hamilton Place MLS 705041
Olde Williamsburg MLS 681873/703916 (I found these two typing in Old Williamsburg vs. (Olde)

If you are sticking within Fort Mill...you will not have a problem checking these out in one day. Just so you know..we are currently in drought conditions...so our once very green area...is turning into a lovely shade of hay.

Honestly while I am familiar with South Charlotte...I have to admit I am not as familiar with the subdivisions in that area. After doing a quick search I found a couple you may be interested in though?

Piper Glen MLS 689716 (nice area)
Quail View MLS 661190

Best of luck with your search!

Aw, Tara Plantation.

When hubby and I first moved down here we printed out 8-9 listings for homes that fit our needs. One was in Tara Plantation. We did a drive-by and LOVED THE HOME. The garden, the lawn, the architectural style, the quiet location, the land size - it was all PERFECT and in our price range!

We were devastated when we called to make an appointment only to find out the sellers had JUST accepted an offer and already had a backup offer in place in case the original fell through.
