Default Regent Park vs. Tega Cay

My wife and kids (ages 7 and 9) will be relocating to the area this summer. We have pretty much settled on the Fort Mill area due to the school district and plan to spend around 500K for our home.

Would be very interested to hearing from any Regent Park or Tega Cay residents on why they chose to live in their respective community.

Also would like to hear from any golfers comparing the two courses. THANKS

Default You did not mention Baxter, but

We love it here! We are retired/older, but this community has it all. And KIDS everywhere.

We love Baxter because of the convenience in amenities real close by. There is the YMCA, the Baxter town center, the Fort Mill Library, Lowes, Harris Teeter, Super Walmart, Bi-Lo, recycling center, I-77 access right here..... Believe it or not, I can walk to all of these places I just metioned.

I could go on and on, but this is the most convenient place we have ever lived. We came from Pittsburgh and originally thought of moving to the Charlotte area where I work. But the tax situation convinced us otherwise.

We have friends in Tega Cay and that is a lovely place. I won't say anyting negative because we looked for a house in TC, but we needed a ranch. In your price range, you should not have a problem finding anything in any of the areas you mention. I don't know about Regant, so I cannot comment. Others might chime in on that area.

But this is just MHO.

Thank you for the info on Baxter. It sounds great but I would really prefer to live in a Golf Course community. Thanks again

I hear jets when I am over by Regent park, but I would go with Regent Park over Tega Cay.

Regent Park for sure. I currently live there and have my friends who live in Tega Cay and thye hate it. Generally speaking, the people in Tega Cay are snobbier and a lot more up tight than people who live in Regent Park. Regent Park is also a lot closer to the I-77 and Charlotte. The police in Tega Cay are also an issue. I have had friends be bulled over in Tega Cay for going 38 in a 35 down a hill! The police have also taken a friends' daughters' cooler on the Forth of July because they suspected her of drinking even though the cooler had no alcohol in it at all. Another bonus of Regent Park is the private security force they have. They have an agreement with the York County Sherrifs so that they may give tickets and make arrests, but the officers are a lot more laid back and friendly with residents than Tega Cay police are. Hope this helps!

????Snobbish? People in Tega Cay are really nice! Where we live, there's lots of young families; very friendly! Folks take care of their property, and it's very safe. I do see the police cruising...but I like knowing that they're around. I rarely see them pulling anyone over. People greet their neighbors here and treat folks with respect...I sure wouldn't call them snobby. I'd call them polite!

Default Tega Cay

I think Tega Cay is the most family friendly neighborhood I have ever lived in. And I have lived in many due to my husband being transfered alot. I love TC. I have friends in Regent and they totally hate it. Houses do not sell well in Regent. Regent Park has many problems just research more on these forums about Regent Park.

When we were just looking to buy in 2006, our agent told us that the golf course is the subject of litigation due to the owners not paying either taxes or dues. Back then, supposedly the golf course was up for sale to a developer who was planning to put up a JCPenney (IIRC) up there. Well, that was enough to dissuade us from considering any of the communities along the boulevard, which back then had these huge potholes that took forever to get patched. Please research the status of that golf course because that should affect your decision to purchase there.
