Default Tega Cay

Cay is pronounced "Key", not "Kay".

I hear many people say Tega "Kay", even some that live there.

Maybe it is just one of those local things.

As you were.

Stop the presses T.S.!....I am not sure who your posting is directed to but I happen to live in Tega Cay, SC...and I can tell you that the way you are saying it is incorrect. It is in fact pronounced Tee-ga-Kay. If you insist on saying it that way...you will be the one that will stand out like a sore thumb. Below I have provided a link with some other ways to pronounce some things in the Charlotte and surrounding areas (I still can not say Lancaster, SC correctly....coming originally from CA...we said it completely different)

www.tegacaysc.org (look under history - for how Tega Cay came by its name)

My post was not directed at anybody specific. It was just an observation.

That link shows how locals say things are pronounced, not how they are correctly pronounced. I guess I will have to follow the locals on this one, but I am still not going to start saying things like y'all.

I realize the link I provided was how locals say things...I was just trying to help the new kid on the block!

and come on....I say give it a year or two of living here...and I'd bet...not only will you be saying Tega Cay the way we do...but I'll put money on it that you also start sprinkling your sentences with a good ol' Y'all every now and then too

Default Hey Y'all!

Loved your post. Can't wait to get back to NC where people understand me when I say that. Been living in So. Cal for 2 years and now just waiting for my house to sell so we can move back to NC.
