Default Speeding Ticket in Fort Mill

My Wife got a speeding ticket in downtown Fort Mill. Normally you get a bunch of lawyer solicitations within a few days. For some reason we haven't received any. We live in Charlotte. I'm a big believer in paying someone to "take care of it". Anyone have any lawyer recommendations for me?

How much could a speeding ticket be in Downtown Fort Mill? I believe the speed limit is 20 or 25 in that tiny section.

That doesn't happen around here ... my son got a ticket in Florida and our mailbox was flooded with lawyer solicitations ... I had never seen that before. Perhaps Charlotte does it, but of all the tickets I have received in York County I have never received a lawyer solicitation ... I just paid the fine or if I felt it was wrong went to court. If you go to court sometimes the judge will reduce the points or fine amount.

never seen or heard of that being done around here.

I have gone to court and pleaded guilty and the judge will lower the fine.
The police will normally change an over 10 to under 10 to save you the points. Then they can be rear ends. I was on Ebinport Road after graduation at high school and was headed to a party. I got pulled for passing someone who was going 25 mph in a 35 zone. There were no yellow lines so I went around. The officer said that when you pass you still have to stay under the speed limit, so when I went 40 to get around, I was in violation. Then another time I was caught going over 10 on Ebinport Road. My odometer told me otherwise. I took my car to the Honda shop and they checked it and found my odomoeter to be off. So, I was not going 59 in a 45, I was going 53. I took a certified letter from the mechanic and the judge was not amused and did not lower the fine. Another time, on Saluda St. I got pulled for speeding and their "computer" said I was a fugitive from Kansas. I thought I'd never get back to pizza hut, all the while, I'm sitting there being accused of false things, and the other drivers out there making tips.

I've offered a reward on Cragslist trying to locate the owners of a house and no takers.

I don't think you can buy your way out of a ticket around here.
I have heard of attempts on the side of the highway and the driver was arrested for trying to bribe a cop.

I am in no way trying to bribe or buy my way out of a ticket. Most places you can get a lawyer and they can plead "Improper equipment" or something and pay the fine and be done. If you get a ticket in most places the "traffic attorneys" litter your mailbox with solicitations to help you out and I didn't receive anything. That's what I'm talking about.

I've never heard of that approach in this area. I've gotten 8-10 tickets since I got my driver's license at age 14, 45 years ago. Never heard from a lawyer or other person, and never heard of anyone hearing from a lawyer. I've paid my tickets be mailing in a money order, or if I felt I was done wrong, I'd go to court and plead "mercy of the court" and hope to get a reduction in the fine.

Maybe some of the members of this forum who are lawyers or other profession that is closer to traffic violations, can let you know if such approaches happen around here. It's a new one on me and my friends as I've asked around.

Never heard of that before either and we have gotten our fair share of tickets in the area and throughout the state and have never gotten anything from a lawyer. We've always gone to court & paid the fine.

put a for sale sign in your yard (for sale by owner) and you'll get some mail and phone calls from people wanting to help you.........I got my share of that early in the year. Offering to list my house on their websire for $299.00. I also got calls and mail from real estate agents wanting to be my agent.

I doubt anyone will save much $ by paying someone to handle a traffic ticket.
I'd find them "chasing" me as an invasion of privacy, and unless they saw me get stopped, and are able to trace my tag number, how would they know how to contact me if I was looking for someone to "take care of it"?

I had never heard of that either ... when we were visiting Florida and our son got a ticket ... we went ahead and paid the fine but the next few weeks you would not believe the amount of mail we received from lawyers ... I mean fancy three color glossy brochures offering their services. Living here all my life and receiving my share of speeding tickets I know I have never received anything from a local law firm.

My bossman, if and when he received a ticket would always just send it to his lawyer and let the lawyer handle it. He didn't have to appear in court his lawyer did that for him.

Traffic tickets are a public record, available for inspection at the Clerk of Courts office. Any lawyer has access to that information.

Sometimes, the advantage of using a lawyer has little to do with saving money. It's the points assigned to a violation that may be more important, especially if a driver already has some violations on their record.

For instance, if you operate a company vehicle at your job, and your license is suspended or restricted, it might cause your employer to terminate you.

If you're driving under a CDL license, the points for some violations are doubled, so it's very easy to get in trouble with your driving record with one or two CDL violations.

I'd rather plead guilty to "defective equipment," than to driving 11 or more miles over the speed limit. One has points, and one does not. A good lawyer can make a difference.
