Description: The indomitable Winn Bundy, former librarian and a font of information about writers, poets, and musicians in the region, hosts this annual fiesta at her delightful Singing Wind Bookshop in Benson. It attracts hundreds of book lovers. Authors read from their latest books, and there’s lively music and lots of fun. It’s held on the Sunday preceding Thanksgiving Day. (See the Shopping chapter for more information about Singing Wind.) Take I-10 to exit 304, and drive north 2.25 miles on Ocotillo Road. Go right onto Singing Wind Road, and follow it to the ranch house that serves as the bookshop.

Description: OK, so it’s not in Tucson. But you should not miss this amazing store. You’ll find it off exit 304 in Benson, at the end of Singing Wind Road. Owned by the feisty and extremely knowledgeable Winn Bundy, the place is a treasure trove of books about the Southwest and Americana. The vast collection includes travel guides, fiction, nonfiction, photography, anthropology, poetry, religion, and more, all organized in Winn’s unique style. There’s a great children’s reading room. The store also hosts special musical events and readings; call to find out the schedule. Cash or check only; open daily.
